Beer of the month review
Frohe Weihnachten Merry Christmas
Notes: There are so many good winter warmer ales
and holiday spice beers this time of year, such as Sam
Adams Winter Lager, Breckinridge Christmas Ale, and
Snow Cap by Pyramid just to name a few. They are all
great, but this beer, Frohe Weihnachten, which is very,
very hard to find, might be one of the greatest tasting
Country: Germany
beers that have ever landed on my lips. Truly a great find
Type: Euro Strong Lager
for any beer fan. It comes in collectible pottery bottles,
but don’t let that fool you about the serious taste inside.
Brewed By: Crailsheimer Engelbrau Dark in color with an aroma of caramel and malt with
Alcohol %: 7.0%
light spice flavor, it delivers a very smooth taste with a
Serving Type: Comes in 16oz good amount of hops. Very seasonal in taste, but not too
Pottery bottle only
strong with the holiday spice flavor.
hints of sweet caramel and barbecue smoke.
The tannins are soft and supple.
Mount Langhi Riesling
Notes: Balanced citrus fruit, pears,
blossom again and a nice minerality to its
structure. There’s a touch of residual sugar
here too, but only a touch. The finish is
clean, pure and lingers nicely.
Oriel Femme Fatale
Notes: Named for the irresistibly seductive
beauties of French history in whose honor
this wine of great color, beauty and character
