17: Spiral Wrapped Rods
In this article let’s go into something
out of the ordinary. Let us
look at something that has baffled
some people, got some groups into
heated debates, got some people
confused, and some love them. Let
us take a look at spiral wrapped
rods where guides do not follow
conventional placement thus requires
some unconventional thinking.
What Is It?
Spiral wrapped rods are conventional
and / or baitcasting type
rods with its guides placed somewhat
like a spiral staircase towards
a 180 degree angle. With the reel
sitting above the rod (rod placed
horizontal), the line is led towards
the bottom via spirally affixed
guides.
