Introduction
• Comparison of the gap-filling techniques for nitrous oxide for the purpose of
calculating annual emissions.
The concluding Chapter 7 summarises the findings and gives a final overview of
the study, Chapter 8 suggests ways to proceed in this field of research. Included in the
Appendix 1 is the fourth manuscript co-authored with Kim and Kiely on the “Effect of
increased N use and dry periods on N 2 O emission from a fertilized grassland”
(accepted for publication in Nutrient Cycling in Agroecosystems on 1 April 2010).
