Ulster GAA
The Ulster Under 16 Elite Camp is a three day camp held in the
University of Ulster at Jordanstown, during the first week in July
each year. The camp targets the top 45 players in Ulster from
both Gaelic Football and Hurling and exposes them to a full-time
residential training experience. Players are fitness tested, learn
about nutrition and hydration and the effects on their bodies
during exercise, experience the use of video analysis to monitor
performance and are coached at a high level on the development
of the skills of their game. Visiting personalities give talks on
how they deal with the high levels of commitment required to
play senior inter county competition and offer advice on how to
improve performance.
Over the last six years this camp has produced many stars who are
currently gracing the fields for their county senior teams. Stars like
Donegal’s Paddy McBrearty and current captain and former Young Player
of the Year, Michael Murphy from football and current Antrim hurling stars
Neil McManus and Arron Graffin.
The camp is also used to prepare teams to compete in an Inter-Provincial
challenge against Connaught.
