Memorandum on the cooperation with
Presov, Kosice and Nitra Self-Governing
Regions (VUC)
Memorandum on the cooperation between the SARIO
agency and the Self-Governing Region (VUC) was
signed by SARIO CEO Juraj Kiesel with the representatives
of three Self-Governing Regions (VUC) respectively (Mr.
Peter Chudik, Chairman of the VUC Presov, Mr. Zdenko
Trebula, Chairman of the VUC Kosice and Mr. Milan
Belica, Chairman of the VUC Nitra). This is one tangible
consequence of the successful event “Investment and
Cooperation Forum 2010” that took place under the
auspices of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak
Republic (MH SR) with the participation of potential and
established investors with the plans to expand. The aim of
the Memorandum is the cooperation in the development
and propagation of the business environment,
presentation of the investment environment advantages
and support of the export activities of the business
entities.
New methods of SARIO’s work with the
investors
Based on the Memorandums on the cooperation of the
Self-Governing Regions (VUC), the Slovak Investment
and Trade Development Agency prepared new methods
of work with the investors and the regions. This new
approach should be as follows: After the interlinking of
the websites of SARIO agency and the individual Self-
Governing Regions with the offers of the investment
and export opportunities, appointed project manager
of the FDI Section will organize, in the cooperation with
the SARIO Regional Offices and the representatives
of the VUC regional department, the meeting directly
in the region. “If this would not be possible due to time
constraints, we would prepare videoconference in SARIO
agency during which the investors would be able to talk
with the representatives of the selected region on the
specific investment options”, SARIO CEO Juraj Kiesel said.
He added that SARIO agency is after 10 years of its work
with the investors introducing new, dynamic model –
work with the investors in close cooperation with the
regions.
Sucessfully finalized investment projects in
2009
By 31st December 2009 Foreign Direct Investment
Section of SARIO had successfully finalized eight
investment projects in the total volume of 244.43 million
EUR. These projects should create 2,625 – 4,450 jobs. The
strategic project of the 2009 became the investment of
the company AU Optronics from Taiwan that has decided
to invest in Slovakia into the LCD panels production in
Trencin.

Chief Executive Officer of SARIO Mr.Juraj Kiesel
participated at the groundbreaking ceremony of AU
Optronics Corporation (AUO) in Trencin. AUO as one of
the foremost producers of the LCD panels in the world
had decided to invest 191.3 million EUR to the factory in
Trencin with the assumption to create about 1,300 direct
and almost 2,000 indirect jobs. Taiwanese investor plans
to start the production in the beginning of 2011. SARIO
Chief Executive Officer said in this context: “Despite of
the global crisis and general decrease of the investment
activities in all economically developed countries of the
world, we need to understand the AU Optronics investment
much deeper – as a message that Slovakia is a good
destination for investors.”

SARIO proudly presents “Life in Slovakia”, a specialized
information material published for the very first
time. “Life in Slovakia” is designed not only to introduce
Slovakia as a country of opportunity, but also to provide
useful legal, cultural, and social information for potential
as well as established investors and expatriate managers
living in Slovakia. The ambition of this publication is to
make life of incoming investors and their management
teams easier by helping them to adapt to new, different
cultural and social environment.

Partnership of SARIO and Slovak TV
The representatives of the strategic development of the
Slovak Television have presented the project of the
satellite broadcasting focused on the image of Slovakia
abroad to the top representatives of SARIO. According
to the Director in Charge of the Strategic Project Jan
Dianiska the main goal of this project is to strengthen
the identity of the Slovaks living abroad and to attract
them back to Slovakia not only as tourists but as well
as entrepreneurs. “We would be happy if this project
would create one of the pillars of the state presentation
directed abroad,” said Jan Dianiska and he added that
it is the reason they are looking for natural partners
for cooperation – the institutions actively pursuing
the presentation of the Slovak Republic from different
perspectives. “SARIO agency welcomes the opportunity
to participate in this project that might help with the
presentation of Slovakia and attract the attention of
foreign business subjects”, said SARIO CEO Juraj Kiesel.
