153.• Ore'Oruanisation. The v•s non-militzary Reich Security -so
woro reorganised by HI1. approximately two and a half years ago. (ticH ite -
by 1.0.: F. 11',YR and some of his accolytes, such as BLUME, referred more
vaguely to a r:,•rganisati..n about the same time.) HBULER chose SVO
(Sicherheitspolizoi), N'JT SD (Sicherheitsdienst) as the new pcneri.c terta
for all those security bodies.
154.. NOW Nomencalaturc. The formerly autonomous or semi-dependent
organisation, SD, STAPO (omva,o) and ERIE° (Krirainalpolizei.), were placed
under one Sichcrhoitszentmle, The Reichssicherheitshau (MIA. H.Q.
Imperial SePurity). HERA wP..s divided into seven bureaux, called !INTER.,
designated by Roraan numerals, viz. AlfT I, AliTII,Ala'III ctc. (Soo ;,ppendix
. C). Inside RSHI, the old names of SD. GESTAPO and KRIFO have since largely
given way to the new desivati.,ns, IiI, AND 111 arid AMI' V respectively.
•The C.O. of a bureau received the title of LISTSCIṂ11 , viz. lint schef I,
41mtschof II, etc. Each ;Jai was split up into divisicns,called REPHRLTE,
which received capital letters instead of numbers, viz. Reforat Reforat B,
Refcrat C, etc. The C.O. of a Refcrat was named Leiter des Referates ate.
or Reforatsloiter A, B, etc. The subdivision of a Rcfcrat was called
Lbtcilwig (Seotion) and was given Arabic numerals, viz. Abt. 1, Abt. 2, etc.
with an Abteilunpsloiter (0.C. Section) for each.
155. Vorwaltung-Exckutive. For work in general and for recruitment, traixt7
ing, and appropriate assign:Lent to posts on the staff, SIPO was divided into •
two min branches Ver,raltung (Administration), , including research and
planning, and Exelcutive (Execttive Branch • or fieldwork). Most of the
former is done at RSILI., the latter in branch offices, or individually, outside
(SEE . (e) and (f) below.
