One of OI’s most exciting elements
and a key ingredient in its recipe for
success is the participating vessel
programme. We welcome vessels and
craft at ExCeL to complement the OI
06 exhibition and conference and we
know the value that attendees gain
from actually seeing your equipment,
in situ. The dockside, which is located
immediately outside the exhibition
hall, was very well visited at OI 2004
when 17 vessels were berthed
alongside. We invite research and
survey vessels, as well as oil spill
control boats with their equipment,
to join us at the 2006 event and
depending on their size it may
be possible to undertake underway
demonstrations.

defence & security technology and we are
planning an international conference
alongside OI to complement this group of

associated meetings are expected to attract
more than 600 exhibiting companies from 25
countries occupying 7500m 2 /80,000ft 2 nett
space in a single 15000m 2 /160,000ft 2 hall -
the largest maritime meeting ever
to take place in London.

OI CONFERENCE -
THE GLOBAL OCEAN FORUM
The Oceanology International Conference
Committee is assembling a world-class
global ocean forum programme under the
chairmanship of Dr Richard Spinrad. As
Assistant Administrator of NOAA's National
Ocean Service, Rick oversees a diverse
portfolio, including nautical charting, marine
sanctuaries, and coastal zone management
activities. Prior to his appointment to
NOAA, he served as Technical Director to
the Oceanographer of the Navy, advising
the US Navy on operational oceanographic
research and operations.
The conference will comprise a mix
of invited papers and keynote speakers
together with presentations - a Call for
Papers will go out in Spring 2005.
MEETINGS ALONGSIDE
ECOR - Engineering Committee for Oceanic
Resources Symposium 2006 Covering
developments to the engineering aspects of
the exploration and exploitation of the ocean's
resources.
The Use of Autonomous Instruments in Shelf
Sea Monitoring Building on the outcomes
of the EU FP6 'Coastal Ocean Benthic
Observatories' (COBO) program. It will provide
a focus for potential FP7 work associated
with autonomous monitoring systems.
Building a Marine and Coastal Spatial Data
Infrastructure (organised by Aberdeen
Institute for Coastal Science & Management).
For the coastal GIS community there is now
a need to establish formal links between
existing spatial data infrastructure initiatives,
and to promote knowledge and understanding
to the non-GIS and non-coastal specialists,
addressing the responsible stakeholders in
government, commerce, and industry.
RPA's Annual Wave and Tidal Technologies
Symposium (WATTS) The world's leading
marine renewables conference looks at the
issues relevant to the development of the
ocean energy sector, with presentations by
key practitioners of the industry and other
stakeholders who are shaping the growth and
future of this vital renewable energy source.
IACMST - Inter-Agency Committee on
Marine Science and Technology will hold
an invited-audience event during OI 06.
UK Moorings Group Meeting co-ordinated
by FRS Marine Laboratory - will host an
open meeting to discuss technical aspects
of deploying oceanographic instruments
