The <strong>Cine</strong> <strong>Gear</strong> Film Series and Competition starts the jam packed<br />
weekend with the screenings of three Features, five Student and five<br />
Independent Short finalists on Thursday, May 30 in The Sherry Lansing<br />
Theater. The winners in each category will be announced and crowned<br />
at the VIP Party on Friday night May 31 at The Paramount Theater.<br />
Acclaimed <strong>Cine</strong>matographer, Haskell Wexler, ASC, the three-time<br />
Oscar winner for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Bound For Glory,<br />
and for the documentary Interview With My Lai Veterans will be this<br />
year’s recipient of The <strong>Cine</strong> <strong>Gear</strong> <strong>Expo</strong> <strong>Cine</strong>matography Lifetime<br />
Achievement Award.<br />
The <strong>Cine</strong> <strong>Gear</strong> <strong>Expo</strong> <strong>2013</strong> Technical Lifetime Achievement Award<br />
will be presented to Cooke Optics Limited in recognition of the<br />
significant contributions the company has made to advance the art<br />
and craft of filmmaking. Mr. Les Zellan, President of ZGC Inc. /Cooke<br />
Optics Limited will accept the award from Jon Fauer, ASC and Editor/<br />
Publisher of Film and Digital Times. Post Service Leader, FotoKem<br />
will be honored for their 50 years of service to the industry at the VIP<br />
Reception Friday night.<br />
<strong>Cine</strong> <strong>Gear</strong> <strong>Expo</strong> opens at 2:00pm on Friday, May 31 to an incredible<br />
varied range of vendors and manufacturers who will show their latest<br />
tools and services to enhance the creative vision and make complex<br />
jobs easier and faster to fulfill. Stages 31 and 32 are the indoor exhibit<br />
areas adjacent to the New York Street Back lot, the outdoor show zone.<br />
The always popular Premiere Seminars are supported and<br />
organized by a wide range of associations, unions and manufacturers<br />
who will share their vast knowledge and experience with <strong>Cine</strong> <strong>Gear</strong><br />
attendees. Seminars and panels will be held in the Paramount, Lansing<br />
and Gower Theaters and Screening Room #5 on May 31 and June 1 and<br />

The Master Class Seminars on Sunday June 2, held at the<br />
Mole Stage in Hollywood, are an outstanding mix of Educational<br />
opportunities that range from “Financing your Project to Finishing<br />
your Film” and the always popular “Lighting Workshop” taught by<br />
such great <strong>Cine</strong>matographers as Alan Caso, ASC, Ron Garcia, ASC and<br />
Haskell Wexler, ASC.<br />

As part of the <strong>Cine</strong> <strong>Gear</strong> <strong>Expo</strong> experience, Sony Electronics is<br />
hosting an exclusive 4K screening of the upcoming Sony Pictures<br />
Entertainment feature film “After Earth,” from acclaimed director<br />
M. Night Shyamalan. The movie is the latest release shot with Sony’s<br />
flagship F65 digital motion picture camera, and it will be shown at<br />
the Paramount Studios Theater in 4K. Sony is also planning a panel<br />
discussion with the filmmakers and the production team. Be among<br />
the first to see the newest 4K blockbuster and hear first-hand from the<br />
professionals who created the movie. The event will be held on Friday,<br />
May 31, <strong>2013</strong>, with the activities beginning promptly at 6:30 pm. This<br />
special event is open to registered <strong>Cine</strong> <strong>Gear</strong> <strong>Expo</strong> attendees.<br />
