GRADUATES RECOGNIZED<br />

Thirteen receive achievement awards<br />

The <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong> graduated 73 Doctor <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong> students in the Class <strong>of</strong> 2000 and<br />

honored the following graduates for excellence.<br />

Sabrina Allen was awarded the SmithKline Beecham Patient Care Award in recognition <strong>of</strong><br />

superior pr<strong>of</strong>essional achievement in clinical pharmacy practice and service, with regard to patient<br />

relations. Sabrina was also recognized with the American Society <strong>of</strong> Health-Systems Pharmacists<br />

(ASHP) Award in appreciation and recognition <strong>of</strong> meritorious service and leadership.<br />

Deborah Burr received the Pfizer U.S. Pharmaceuticals Outstanding Leader Award, which is<br />

presented in recognition <strong>of</strong> leadership.<br />

Lanning Baker and Anthony Dye received the Merck Award, which is presented in<br />

recognition <strong>of</strong> scholastic achievement and development in basic pharmaceutical<br />

sciences.<br />

Vanessa Duncan Peck received the Mylan Pharmaceuticals Excellence in <strong>Pharmacy</strong><br />

Award in recognition <strong>of</strong> high academic achievement and pr<strong>of</strong>essional motivation.<br />

Frank Egbert was awarded the Perrigo Award <strong>of</strong> Excellence in Nonprescription<br />

Medication Studies in recognition <strong>of</strong> excellence in pr<strong>of</strong>essional services with regard to<br />

nonprescription medications.<br />

Chris Johnson was recognized with the Facts and Comparison’s Award <strong>of</strong><br />

Excellence in Clinical Communication in recognition <strong>of</strong> high academic achievement and<br />

outstanding clinical communication skills.<br />

Jeff Johnson was recognized with the Lilly Award in recognition <strong>of</strong> academic<br />

achievement, leadership, and pr<strong>of</strong>essional development.<br />

Ben Nichols received the APhA-ASP Mortar and Pestle Pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism Award,<br />

which is sponsored by McNeil Consumer Healthcare. This award recognizes<br />

exceptional pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism and excellence in patient care in all aspects <strong>of</strong> a student’s academic<br />

pharmacy career. Nichols demonstrated commitment to the pr<strong>of</strong>ession <strong>of</strong> pharmacy through<br />

involvement in pr<strong>of</strong>essional organizations and other extracurricular learning opportunities.<br />

Amy Scott received the Dean’s award in recognition <strong>of</strong> superior academic excellence. This<br />

award is given to the student with the highest grade point average in the college. Amy Scott was<br />

also recognized with the TEVA Pharmaceuticals Outstanding Student Award in recognition <strong>of</strong><br />

excellence in the study <strong>of</strong> pharmacy.<br />

Nate Smedley was presented the Roche <strong>Pharmacy</strong> Communications Award in recognition <strong>of</strong><br />

effective pharmacist/patient communications.<br />

Kemi Tunrarebi was awarded the American Pharmaceutical Association (APhA) Academy <strong>of</strong><br />

Students <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong> (ASP) Senior Recognition Award. This award is presented in recognition<br />

<strong>of</strong> advancing the pr<strong>of</strong>ession <strong>of</strong> pharmacy through outstanding service to the APhA-ASP <strong>Idaho</strong><br />

<strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong> chapter.<br />

Paul Wolford received the <strong>Idaho</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>Pharmacy</strong> Association Award, which is given to an<br />

<strong>Idaho</strong> resident in recognition <strong>of</strong> superior scholastic achievement and pr<strong>of</strong>essional development.<br />
