About Falls Creek

Good day to all, 

I’m always amazed by how fast time has flown by. It’s already mid-year! 

While kids have fun during the June Holidays, the adults carry on with their 

jobs, while constantly searching for something new to make their mundane 

life more interesting. I would say travelling would be a great way to spice 

up your life. What’s more, you have worked hard for half a year, so it’s time 

to rewind and relax in a place other than Singapore. 

Well, recently, I’ve gone on a work trip to South Korea for our Korea Trailblazer 

campaign. I’m there as a videographer, photographer and a travel 

partner. Haha, as you may have heard, we have selected 5 lucky candidates 

to travel to different parts of South Korea, free and easy style! I 

was assigned to tag along three of our candidates, Edmund, Mabel and 

Maziah to Jeonju, Jeju Island and Gwangwon-Do respectively. It was tiring, 

but it was lots of fun! So my point is… travelling is fun, no matter what the 

purpose is. If there is a chance to travel, don’t let it slip away!

I like to advise that your Assistant Manager, Ms Tay Hui Ling 

is really a role model for other travel consultants to follow. 

I have had many experiences with travel consultants and 

agencies, and I would say none of them could match the 

services provide by Ms Tay. 

I have recently booked 4 tickets for an Insight Tour thru Ms Tay 

who has been very patient whilst we were deciding on all the 

aspects of the tour. 

We had to advise my sister-in-law who lives in Kuala Lumpur. 

She and her husband are travelling with us. 

My general impression of travel consultants is – 

1) They are not so committed and forthcoming to provide the 

service 

2) They would not return call if there is a problem that they 

cannot handle 

3) They would avoid your calls or ask one of the colleagues 

to handle it. 

4) Then it is always difficult to get them on the phone and 

even if you leave a message, they would not return the call. 

5) They are not so patient when customers take time to 

decide and make changes. 

My experience with Ms Tay is completely the opposite and 

this is the reason I say she is really a role model for others to 

follow. 

Ms Tay is a committed staff who always returns call or sends 

email promptly without delay. She would answer all my 

questions point by point. 

Customers who receive such services will surely be delighted 

as they are being served well. And I am one delighted 

customer of Ms Tay. 

I like to think that if all your travel consultants provide services 

such as those of Ms Tay, Chan Brothers will be the champion 

in service delivery in the Travel Industry in Singapore. This is the 

Blue Ocean strategy that competing businesses should take 

if they want to be different from the rest. 

In summary, I like to say that Ms Tay is an asset to your 

organisation and she has all the qualities (e.g. good listener 

and knowledgeable) of a good travel consultant.

Together with my travelling companion Mdm. Ann Goh (Family 

14), we have written in to compliment on the professionalism 

and quality services rendered by our Tour Leader - Mr William 

Joey Lewis. 

The mutual respect, seamless cooperation and coordination 

among William, our tour guide (Miss Ma) and driving captain 

(Mr Ziang) were impressive. Definitely an experienced and 

diligent team! 

We were impressed and sincerely appreciate William and the 

team’s efforts in taking such good care of us these 8 days. 

The travelling schedules were well planned. The checking in 

at the various hotels were efficiently carried out; no waiting 

and hassles. Meals at the various restaurants were wellplanned 

in advance. William and Miss Ma would ensure that 

all dishes and related needs were duly provided; remain 

within our sight until they are assured that we were all settled 

and comfortable. These responsible attitudes deserved to be 

commended. 

There was also close coordination with DJ Ah Dong. The short 

time he spent with us was definitely enjoyable. William’s 

participation with Ah Dong at the gala dinner was a 

definite winner. We admired William’s ability to adapt and 

professionalism. Truly glad William was our Leader. 

We brought back many many beautiful and fond memories 

and made some new friends; made possible with a fine 

dedicated tour leader, a thoughtful tour guide and a

Fabulous Hokkaido Trip 

Recently, I joined the Chan Brothers Travel’s Fabulous 

Hokkaido package tour. It was from 18 to 24 March. We had 

a tour leader, Kai Teng. The tour guide was Henry Chan and 

a driver, Mr Ito. 

It was a really great experience for both me and my sister. The 

trip was smooth and interesting. 

Thank you, Kai Teng, for bringing us around (with such big 

group, I’m sure it was difficult to ensure that everybody is 

accounted for all the time) Thank you, Mr Ito, for driving safely 

and bring us around, on time but safely! 

And especially thank you to Henry. You have so much 

knowledge about Hokkaido and you were even able to 

adjust our itinerary due to weather changes and yet not 

affect the schedule and hotel stays during the whole trip! I 

almost couldn’t believe you took a subject specifically about 

Hokkaido during your study, you must know the island like the 

back of your palms!

Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium 

Known as the best aquarium in Japan, the highlight of this 

attraction is the massive Kuroshio Tank, probably the second 

largest aquarium in world.

Thousands of people compete on east and west teams,

A 450m long tunnel was dug using shovels and pickaxes

Sangara Waterfall at Iriomote Island 

Densely covered with virgin forests of subtropical trees

among the rest of the islands as the Galapagos of Asia. It 

was designated as a national natural treasure in 1982. Trek 

to Sangara waterfall, which is a rare waterfall that allows 

you to walk behind the plunging water.

Peace Memorial Park 

This is the site where the bloodiest battles were fought during 

the World War II when the US forces invaded and occupied

gives a sobering overview of the lead up to the battle, the 

battle itself and the reconstruction of Okinawa.

Ryukyu Glass Craft Village 

You get to admire beautiful and handmade Ryukyu glass 

ornaments, as well as learn the history and the making 

process of it in the Ryukyu Glass House. Ryukyu glass has 

become a significant part of Okinawan’s culture.

Sunabe Point 

This is one of the popular sites for both beginner and professional divers. It 

can be accessed from Sunabe Beach. For those who love diving at night, 

this is the place to be.

This is the place where you get to learn about Okinawa’s

be able to find a 5000m long natural cave, a snake museum

Mihama American Village 

This is a large entertainment complex, where you can find 

an American-themed shopping malls, restaurants and 

cafes, located near Sunset Beach. The most distinct icon of

Maeda Point 

This diving spot features a nice wall that drops down to about 60m at some 

points, as well as the “Blue Cave”. It can be accessed through the steep 

stairs at Cape Maeda. 

What to see: Eels, sea anemone, lionfish, squids, clownfish 

Taco Rice: Derived from the Mexican 

culture, with taco fillings added on to 

steamed rice instead of a tortilla.

Onna Point 

Known as the Toilet Seat/Bowl Point, due to the shape of the coast, is a 

hidden diving spot located between Cape Manza and Manza Beach.

What are the attractions that you would 

recommend your friends to visit? 

The hot air balloon, the Underground City and the Fairy 

Chimneys Rock Formation at Cappadocia! The feeling I experienced 

during the hot air balloon flight was fantastic! We 

drifted past spectacular and surrealistic landscapes, impressive 

valleys and in between the fairy chimneys, the unique 

rock formations, vineyards and orchards, before we floated 

up over rippled ravines to admire the breath-taking views in 

the region. 

Is the culture in Turkey very different 

from the one in Singapore? 

Yes. Most of the females here stay at home. This is different from Singaporean women as most of them are working. 

I/m surprised that Turkey has a very European style, even though most of the population here are Muslims. The locals 

here are really friendly and open-minded. 

Turkey yoghurt 

Yoghurt with poppy-seed and honey. It has this sweet and sour taste which you 

can’t find in Singapore. It is totally different from those fruity/plain yoghurts we 

have in our market. 

An interesting venue for dinner would be at Safranbolu. This restaurant is very unique and 

it feels like you are having a meal during the 1930s. Furthermore, the food is delicious!

Their Summer happens during December to February, Autumn during March to May, Winter during June to August 

and finally Spring from September to November. I would say, this best time to visit New Zealand is during Spring. 

They are very friendly and helpful. When I was driving along the road from 

Lake Tekapo to Geraldine, I saw this local standing in the middle of the road 

stopping every vehicle, just to inform us that there is a bad accident ahead 

and that we would require to make a U-turn. The people there are always 

ready to lend a helping hand.
