Alice loves to travel and she would never miss any opportunity when it comes to exploring different parts of the
world, especially exotic places. This time around, she had decided to visit the scenic and historically-rich Middle
Eastern country, Turkey! From what I’ve gathered from her, I believe her experience in Turkey was a splendid one.

What are the attractions that you would
recommend your friends to visit?
The hot air balloon, the Underground City and the Fairy
Chimneys Rock Formation at Cappadocia! The feeling I experienced
during the hot air balloon flight was fantastic! We
drifted past spectacular and surrealistic landscapes, impressive
valleys and in between the fairy chimneys, the unique
rock formations, vineyards and orchards, before we floated
up over rippled ravines to admire the breath-taking views in
the region.
Is the culture in Turkey very different
from the one in Singapore?
Yes. Most of the females here stay at home. This is different from Singaporean women as most of them are working.
I/m surprised that Turkey has a very European style, even though most of the population here are Muslims. The locals
here are really friendly and open-minded.
Turkey yoghurt
Yoghurt with poppy-seed and honey. It has this sweet and sour taste which you
can’t find in Singapore. It is totally different from those fruity/plain yoghurts we
have in our market.
An interesting venue for dinner would be at Safranbolu. This restaurant is very unique and
it feels like you are having a meal during the 1930s. Furthermore, the food is delicious!

Sheryn is our Chan Brothers Travel’s Assistant Product Manager for Long Haul Department. Of course, one of the perks
of working in a travel industry is that she gets to travel to different countries to familiarise herself with the interesting
attractions the countries have to offer. The most recent trip of hers is to New Zealand, covering Queenstown, Wanaka,
Mt Cook, Christchurch and Auckland.
Which are some of the must-visit attractions in
New Zealand?
• Shotover Jet, also known as the world’s most Jet Boat ride and the
only company permitted to operate in the spectacular Shotover
River Canyons

• Goldfields Mining Centre,
where I experienced the thrill of
finding gold amongst the virgin soil
• Puzzling World, which offers
the world’s most modern styled
maze and incredible illusion rooms
The exhilarating Shotover Jet Boat ride
in the Canyons
• Wild Hills 4WD Safari, where we went past private farm tracks, cattle,
deer and countless sheep
• Glacier Explorers, where I had an amazing up close encounter with
icebergs on a glacial terminal lake
Their Summer happens during December to February, Autumn during March to May, Winter during June to August
and finally Spring from September to November. I would say, this best time to visit New Zealand is during Spring.
They are very friendly and helpful. When I was driving along the road from
Lake Tekapo to Geraldine, I saw this local standing in the middle of the road
stopping every vehicle, just to inform us that there is a bad accident ahead
and that we would require to make a U-turn. The people there are always
ready to lend a helping hand.
