Fulfilling our Pledge
Successes
In 2007, the Foundation made a 10-year pledge to invest
$400 million to build 100,000 homes.
With the help of our associate-led volunteer program, Team Depot, and our
partners, we met and exceeded that goal, six years ahead of schedule. At the
end of 2010, the Foundation had supported the building of 150,000 homes in
just four years.
We are proud of the work we’ve done, but more importantly, we are thrilled
that 150,000 families now have an affordable place to call home – and the
resulting impact will last for years and even generations to come.
We capped an incredible four years with a number of noteworthy
accomplishments in 2010 alone:
• Provided cash and in-kind donations exceeding $79.5 million
($36.3 million cash; $43.3 million in-kind) to more than 5,600 nonprofit
organizations nationwide.
• Supported housing development organizations with grants for the creation
and preservation of more than 7,500 affordable housing units.
• Planted or restored more than 250,000 trees.
• Donated more than $43 million in products from the 1,100 Home Depot
stores to nonprofit partners impacting over 78,000 homes resulting in the
diversion of 14,433 tons from landfills.
• Matched more than $5 million in charitable contributions.
• Built 33 KaBOOM! Playgrounds
