Bar Supervisor<br />

Responsible to: Bar manager.<br />
Main Purpose: To assume day to day control of the café bar operations in conjunction with the bar manager and other<br />
supervisory staff. To maintain standards of customer service, security, staff and control functions. This<br />
position includes being a building key holder and is subject to satisfactory references being obtained.<br />
Main Duties:<br />
1. Carry out all the duties required by the management, as directed by the bar manager, in any area to which you are assigned<br />
by your duty rota, including the following responsibilities.<br />
2. Customer service. Cellar management. Key holding and security.<br />
3. Staff training, development and administration.<br />
4. Business development.<br />
5. When necessary, attend management meetings, and liaise with the front of house, administration and management staff.<br />
6. The following normal bar duties.<br />
Main Service<br />
1. Properly and attentively serve food and drinks according to the company standards and all legal requirements.<br />
2. Maintain the customer service areas clear, clean and fully prepared and stocked at all times. Including: Properly clearing<br />
tables, washing up and preparing crockery, cutlery and glassware. Setting up public areas, and restocking bar with food,<br />
liquor and ancillary stocks. Maintaining hygiene by carrying out cleaning duties, including laundry, as directed by the<br />
cleaning rota and bar management.<br />
3. Maintain a comprehensive product knowledge, and follow laid down procedures to maximise customer choice and sales.<br />
4. Monitor all public areas, and immediately report any unruly patrons, or unusual events to the manager, and assist as<br />
necessary in dealing with such occurrences<br />
5. Undertake and implement any personal or staff training as required by the bar manager.<br />

Customer Care<br />
1. Observe the highest standards of hygiene and ensure that you report to work on time, clean, tidy and correctly dressed.<br />
2. Follow the company standard of customer care, when dealing with service and complaints in a polite and friendly manner.<br />
3. The customer is the purpose of our business, so always remember to smile, even when on the telephone. Treat the<br />
customer as you would want to be treated.<br />
Security, Stock and Cash Control<br />
1. Follow all laid down procedures for till use and cash, cheque and credit handling and administration. Refer any problems<br />
immediately to your manager.<br />
2. Follow all laid down procedures for stock and goods receipt and administration, including proper stock rotation.<br />
3. Follow all laid down theft prevention procedures.<br />
General<br />
1. Follow at all times, all company rules as laid down in the employee handbook, and maintain a flexible attitude to allow<br />
the company to best utilise your skills as business demands. This includes sickness and holiday cover, special events and<br />
external catering.<br />
2. To carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by the bar manager or deputies.<br />
3. The position is a supervisory role, and as such will require a flexible attitude to working hours. These will be determined<br />
by the manager, and are as required for the smooth running of the business, including absence cover.<br />
4. All other terms and conditions are those applicable to fortnightly paid staff in the company’s employee handbook.
Person Specification<br />
Previous experience in a supervisory role is desirable, including:<br />
• Proven excellent leadership and communication skills<br />
• Experience in a busy food led customer facing and operational management role<br />
• Personal licence holder<br />
• Responsibility for staff and team development<br />
• Health and Safety management<br />
• Experience of managing budgets<br />
• Excellent administrative and IT skills<br />

Knowledge<br />
