Message from President of Malaysian Dental Association
Welcome to the largest Dental Conference and Trade Exhibition in Asia Pacific Region and
welcome to the beautiful peninsular of Malaysia. Malaysia, a multi ethnic, multi cultural country
situated at the confluent of the East and West, we pride ourself as a country that is truly Asia.
The Malaysian Dental Association’s debut in the international conference started since 2009
and has never looked back eversince. We have responded sucessfully to the challenges one
after another to host more conjoint conferences of international standard. With the unequivocal

Committee of the 35th Asia Pacific Dental Congress, wish to welcome our most revered friends,
delegates and participants to this awe-inspiring Congress hosted by the Malaysian Dental
Association on behalf of the Asia Pacific Dental Federation / Asia Pacific Regional Organisation
of the FDI (APDF / APRO).
We in the Region, have developed a unique spirit and camaraderie reflective of the very nature

Message from Secretary General APDF/APRO
In May 2013, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia will be the site of the 35th Asia Pacific Dental Congress
(35th APDC). It is very ably led by Dato’ Dr Ratnanesan its Local Organising Committee
Chairman and the dynamic President of Malaysian Dental Association (MDA) Dr How Kim
Chuan.
Malaysia has seen major dental events in the recent past and notably it had successfully
hosted the Annual World Dental Congress of the World Dental Federation (FDI). Dato Dr
Ratnanesan having been the first Malaysian and second Asian to be elected President of the
World Dental Federation. He brings with him considerable knowledge and experience in the
role he now plays as its Local Organising Committee Chairman.
Malaysia has hosted past Asia Pacific Dental Congresses and each one had been extremely well attended and very
successful.
This 35th APDC has all the ingredients for an outstanding event. Its theme “Synergising Practice Excellent with Advances
in Modern Technological Advances” will bring outstanding clinicians and researchers together to present their papers.
Malaysia being an excellent venue will attract dental trade exhibitors to the dental trade exhibition which will run
concurrently with the 35th APDC.
I wish Dato’ Dr Ratnanesan Chairman LOC, Dr How Kim Chuan President MDA and members of the Malaysian Dental

Dennis P. Tarnow is currently Clinical Professor of Periodontology and Director of Implant
Education at Columbia School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Tarnow has a certificate in Periodontics
and Prosthodontics and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He is a
recipient of the Master Clinician Award from the American Academy of Periodontology and
Teacher of the Year Award from New York University. Dr. Tarnow has a private practice in New
York City, and has been honored with a wing named after him at New York University College
of Dentistry. He has published over one hundred articles on perio-prosthodontics and implant
dentistry and has coauthored three textbooks including Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry. Dr.
Tarnow has lectured extensively in the United States and internationally in over thirty countries.
