Saw Lip Hean<strong>BDS</strong> (Melbourne), MScUpon receiving his <strong>BDS</strong> degree from Universiti Malaya, <strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Muzafar</strong> workedbriefly in private practice before becoming a tutor at the Faculty of Dentistry,Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2001. He received his Masters inProsthodontics in 2004 from the Institute of Dentistry, Barts and the London andhis postgraduate diploma in Clinical Dentistry (with Distinction) in 2005 fromQueen Mary’s School of Medicine & Dentistry, University of London. In 2005, hewas awarded the membership by examination from the Royal College of Surgeonsof England.<strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Muzafar</strong> is currently a clinical lecturer and heading the Department ofProsthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, UKM. He has a special interest in managingelderly patient, all ceramic restorations and the development of a prosthodonticslaboratory facility in the dental school. He is also a Council Member (2007/08) ofthe <strong>Malaysian</strong> <strong>Dental</strong> <strong>Association</strong>.Topic: Treatment planning in complete dentureTreating edentulous patients is not as easy as those days in the past. Patients aremore educated and demanding in the sense of treatment outcome. Therefore,treatment planning in complete dentures is essential to ensure success of thetreatment outcome. In this presentation, we would be doing an appraisal of theedentulous patient so that we would be able to provide successful complete dentureprosthesis according to the patient’s needs and conditions. A vast treatment optionsfor edentulous patients will be introduced and discussed in this presentation.<strong>Dr</strong> Saw Lip Hean graduated from University of Melbourne in 1988. He served in<strong>Malaysian</strong> Armed Forces for 2 years before he went on to pursue his post-graduatestudies in Endodontics. In 1993 he set up his private practice restricted toEndodontics. Previously he also served in <strong>Malaysian</strong> Endodontic Society and wasthe President of the Society for a few years.Lecture 1: Re-infection of endodontically treated teethRe-infection of endodontically treated teeth can be very frustrating for the dentistsand the patients. When this occurs, the dentists may opt for re-treatment, surgicalendodontics or removal of the teeth. This lecture will look at the cause of the reinfectionand the rationales behind these various treatment options in detail. At theend of this lecture, the participants should know how to minimise the re-infectionof the endodontically treated teeth and know how to make a conscious decisionwhen facing with the problem.Lecture 2: Case DiscussionDuring this interactive session, many clinical cases will be shown and allparticipants are encouraged to think over the cases. It will involve Diagnosis,Treatment Planning, Case Selection, Treatment Procedures etc. It will be aninteresting session for everyone. At the end of this session, the participants willhave a better appreciation of endodontic treatment.

They can present in a number ways including guminfection, mal-alignment of teeth, incidental radiographic finding, and less commonlycystic enlargement or other pathology.This lecture will examine the presentation and management of impacted teeth in an oralsurgery clinic. Straight forward impaction to the more complicated ones involving otherpathology will be discussed.
