ARREST WARRANT ISSUED FOR SHOOTING SUSPECT
CR#11GS08526 -- News Release #2
EPHRATA (07JULY2011) - Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones today announced an arrest
warrant has been issued for Anthony Jack Aswell of Moses Lake. Aswell is charged with
first degree assault in connection with the July 6 shooting of 24-year-old Christopher
McCarrell during an early morning confrontation at 9998 Maple Dr. NE, Moses Lake.
Aswell is described as a 23-year-old white male, standing 5’ 10” tall, weighing 165 lbs. ,
with blonde hair and blue eyes. He has a skull and flames tattoo on his right arm. He
also is known by the alias “Pancho”. Aswell has a long criminal history, and is
considered armed and dangerous. Citizens should not attempt to detain him.
On Wednesday afternoon, over 25 sheriff’s deputies, detectives, members of the
Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team (INET) and the Moses Lake Regional Tactical
Response Team (TRT) searched several homes and properties in and around Moses
Lake. Tips received from many sources helped officers track Aswell to these locations.
In spite of the officers’ hard work, Aswell has thus far avoided capture.
McCarrell is recovering at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake. His injuries are not
considered life-threatening.
“Tips from the public are what have helped us follow Aswell, and with more tips from
the public, we will catch him,” said Sheriff Jones.
Anyone with information about Aswell should call Detective John Wallace at the Grant
County Sheriff’s Office, 509-754-2011 ext. 468, or send an anonymous tip to
crimetips@co.grant.wa.us. Tipsters do not have to reveal their identity.
