LDB Report Register Now for Your Provincial Sales Tax Number Prior to April 1, 2013, all Licensee Liquor Stores, Rural Agency Stores, Licensed Establishments and Independent Wine Stores must obtain a Provincial Sales Tax (PST) number to purchase liquor, and to collect and remit the PST. The <strong>BC</strong> Liquor Distribution Branch recommends all wholesale customers register promptly to avoid disruption in purchasing liquor when the PST returns to <strong>BC</strong>. How to Register and Obtain a PST Number Registration is now open and will take approximately 10-20 minutes. When you register, you will be assigned a new PST number. New PST numbers will be 11 characters long and will be in this format: PST-1234-5678. Online Registration with eTax<strong>BC</strong> A new website has been developed to facilitate online registration. Visit www. gov.bc.ca/etaxbc/register. Fax/Mail Registration The PST registration application form is available at www.gov.bc.ca/etaxbc/ register. Navigate to the left-hand side of the webpage and click on “Mail or Fax” under “Register to Collect the PST” section and access the application form. In-Person Registration You can register in person at a Service <strong>BC</strong> Centre or at 1802 Douglas St in Victoria. Service centre locations are available at www.servicebc.gov.bc.ca/locations. Before You Start Prior to beginning registration, please have the following information ready: • Your federal business number (BN). If you don't have one yet, the PST registration process will create one for you. • If you have a BN, a copy of an HST return from a filing period before August 2012 to verify information about your business. • Your driver’s licence number or <strong>BC</strong> ID number, if you are a sole proprietor, or for all partners in a partnership. • Your incorporation number, if your business is incorporated. • Your liquor licence number (for each location as applicable). • The address of your business location (for each location as applicable). • The amount of your total annual sales, or the estimated amount if you have been in business less than 12 months. • The amount of your anticipated monthly taxable sales; • If you are leasing the business premises, submit a signed copy of the lease agreement to show your legal right to operate in the location(s); • If you are operating the business, and do not own the business, submit a management/operator agreement; • If you are purchasing a business, submit a copy of the signed bill of sale or purchase agreement. Multiple Liquor Retailing Location If you own/operate an outlet with multiple locations, decide before you start registration if you want to register all locations under one PST account or under separate PST accounts. If you register all your locations under one account, you will have one PST registration number that covers every location and you will file one PST return each reporting period. If you register your locations separately, you will have multiple PST registration numbers and you will file multiple PST returns each reporting period – one for every location you register.
