Air Intake<br />

Irrespective of the size, geometry or location<br />

of the house, <strong>SKOV</strong> has a solution <strong>for</strong><br />

providing fresh air to the livestock house<br />

at the lowest possible energy costs.<br />

In order to ensure uni<strong>for</strong>m distribution of<br />

air in the entire house, air must be let in at<br />

the correct height, direction, volume and<br />

velocity.<br />

At low outdoor temperatures, ventilation<br />

is carried out to remove the harmful gases<br />

that occur in the house environment,<br />

e.g. CO 2<br />

The control unit ensures efficient and achouse.<br />

In order to prevent problems when<br />

the air reaches the animal zone, it is mixed<br />

to create the correct temperature and the<br />

velocity is adapted to this.<br />

When it is hot, ventilation is carried out to<br />

remove the excess heat of the animals and<br />

to create a cooling effect by ensuring air<br />

movement around the animals.<br />

Air Outlet<br />

The location of the air outlet is decided<br />

on the basis of the ventilation system and<br />

building as well as whether ventilation<br />

is to be carried out through roof outlets<br />

and/or wall fans.<br />

LPV<br />

LPV (Low Power Ventilation) is a ventilation<br />

system used in temperate regions of the<br />

world. The system is designed to ventilate<br />

pig and poultry productions. LPV with<br />

wall and ceiling inlets is a classic negative<br />

pressure system which can be adapted to<br />

most house types.<br />

Air Intake<br />

Fresh air is supplied through the DA<br />

1200 wall inlet or the DA 1500 ceiling<br />

inlet. During cold periods, fresh air is<br />

directed towards the ceiling and is mixed<br />

with the house air be<strong>for</strong>e it reaches the<br />

animal zone. During hot periods, the air<br />

is directed directly towards the animals.<br />

Alternatively, air can be supplied through<br />

DA 50 roof inlets.<br />

Air Outlet<br />

Air is let out through DA 600 or DA 920<br />

outlet units. DA 600/920 was developed<br />

to ensure a high output at low power<br />

consumption. DA 600/920 has been optimised<br />

aerodynamically and the fans and<br />

outlets have been optimised as units.<br />

The DA 600/920 outlets are controlled in accordance<br />

with the energy-saving MultiStep®<br />

exhaust principle. Wall fans can be used as<br />

an alternative to the DA 600/920 units.<br />

Climate Control<br />

The control function is handled by DOL<br />

234F or DOL 339 <strong>climate</strong> computers.<br />

DOL 339 is primarily used <strong>for</strong> poultry<br />

houses and very large houses. The <strong>climate</strong><br />

computers provide efficient and accurate<br />

<strong>climate</strong> control ensuring optimum<br />

<strong>growth</strong> under the given conditions. The<br />

<strong>climate</strong> computers are modular and can<br />

be adapted optimally to each individual<br />

production.<br />

Bred animals, high stocking densities<br />

and high productivity place heavy<br />

demands on the house <strong>climate</strong>. LPV<br />

ventilation ensures accurate adaptation<br />

of temperature, air humidity, air velocity,<br />

etc. Pigs and poultry in a specific age<br />

group have a specific temperature at<br />

which they feel most com<strong>for</strong>table ensuring<br />

optimum productivity.<br />

Combi-Diffuse Ventilation<br />

This system is a ventilation system designed<br />

<strong>for</strong> use in temperate regions of the<br />

world. Combi-Diffuse ventilation is a negative<br />

pressure system <strong>for</strong> pig production.<br />

Air Intake<br />

During cold periods, air is taken in through<br />

the ceiling which has a constant opening<br />

area with tiny holes or pores. This ensures<br />

a low air velocity already when air enters<br />

the house, thus preventing the risk of<br />

draught nuisances in the animal zone.<br />

During hot periods, the air intake is supplemented<br />

with DA 1800 ceiling inlets to<br />

ensure sufficient air velocity during the<br />

hottest periods and thus a cooling effect<br />

to maintain optimum production. Other<br />

inlet types can be used as an alternative to<br />

DA 1800 ceiling inlets.<br />

Air Outlet<br />

Air is let out through DA 600 or DA 920<br />

outlet units. DA 600/920 was developed<br />

to ensure a high output at low power<br />

consumption. DA 600/920 has been<br />

Combi ventilation is a ventilation principle<br />

that ensures optimum <strong>climate</strong> <strong>for</strong><br />

the animals through adaptation to the<br />

location, geometry, layout and production<br />

of the individual house. Ventilation<br />

with this type of system requires much<br />

from the supplier of the system as correct<br />

dimensioning and installation are<br />

essential.<br />

Equal Pressure Ventilation<br />

The system can be used in temperate<br />

regions of the world. Equal pressure<br />

ventilation is suited <strong>for</strong> all types of poultry<br />

and pig productions, especially <strong>for</strong> monoblock<br />

houses or areas where the house is<br />

exposed to strong wind effects.<br />

Fresh air enters the house through roof<br />

inlets and air is let out through chimneys<br />

in the roof. Fans in both the air intake and<br />

outlet ensure circulation of air into and out<br />

of the house. The result is neutral pressure<br />

(equal pressure) so that the entire house is<br />

ventilated correctly.<br />

Air Intake<br />

Fresh air is taken in through the DA 40A air<br />

supply unit that allows perfect distribution<br />

of the air in the house thanks to individually<br />

adjustable nozzles.<br />

Air Outlet<br />

Air is let out through DA 600 or DA 920<br />

outlet units. DA 600/920 was developed<br />

to ensure a high output at low power<br />

consumption. DA 600/920 has been optimised<br />

aerodynamically and the fans and<br />

outlets have been optimised as units. The<br />

system can be supplemented with wall<br />

fans <strong>for</strong> additional ventilation.<br />

Equal pressure ventilation ensures optimum<br />

control and air distribution. The<br />

system can be adapted to houses that<br />

are very difficult to ventilate with other<br />

systems due to their locations, air leaks,<br />

wind effects, etc. Thanks to this system,<br />

it is possible <strong>for</strong> the producer to produce<br />

under such conditions.<br />

Tunnel Ventilation<br />

The system can be used in tropical regions<br />

of the world. Tunnel ventilation is a negative<br />

pressure system suited <strong>for</strong> poultry and<br />

pig production.<br />

Air Intake<br />

Air is taken in through a tunnel opening at<br />

one end of the building. The tunnel opening<br />

can be with or without cooling pads.<br />

Air Outlet<br />

Air is let out through large gable fans located<br />

opposite the air intake with cooling<br />

pads in order to create a cooling air current<br />

(chill effect) in the longitudinal direction<br />

of the house. It is possible to achieve<br />

a cooling effect of 10-25° C, depending on<br />

the air humidity. The air outlet is controlled<br />

in accordance with the energy-saving<br />

MultiStep® exhaust principle.<br />

Climate Control<br />

339T <strong>climate</strong> computer. This <strong>climate</strong><br />

computer provide efficient and accurate<br />

Tunnel ventilation is the best system to<br />

cool animals by means of air velocity<br />

in order to maintain their productivity.<br />

Fresh air is taken in through a tunnel<br />

opening at one end of the building and<br />

air is let out through wall fans at the<br />

other end of the building.<br />

Combi-Tunnel Ventilation<br />

This system can be used in subtropical<br />

and tropical regions of the world. Combi-<br />

Tunnel ventilation is a negative pressure<br />

system suited <strong>for</strong> poultry and pig production.<br />

The system is designed specifically <strong>for</strong><br />

regions with heavy daily or seasonal temperature<br />

fluctuations.<br />

Air Intake<br />

At lower outdoor temperatures, air is<br />

taken in through DA 1200 wall inlets. DA<br />

1200 has an air inlet control function that<br />

improves the quality of the air intake at<br />

low ventilation requirements. These wall<br />

inlets close at high outdoor temperatures<br />

and air is taken in through a Rack & Pinioncontrolled<br />

tunnel opening at one end of<br />

the building. The tunnel opening can be<br />

with or without cooling pads.<br />

Air Outlet<br />

At low outdoor temperatures, air is let out<br />

through wall fans or the DA 600/920 outlet<br />

units. At high outdoor temperatures, air<br />

is let out through large gable fans located<br />

opposite the tunnel opening with cooling<br />

pads in order to create a cooling air current<br />

(chill effect) in the longitudinal direction<br />

of the house. It is possible to achieve<br />

a cooling effect of 10-25° C, depending on<br />

the air humidity. The air outlet is controlled<br />

in accordance with the energy-saving<br />

during cold periods, thus creating<br />

minimum ventilation to remove the<br />

excess moisture and heat of the animals;<br />

furthermore, the air velocity is kept at a<br />

low level. During hot periods, fresh air<br />

is supplied through a tunnel opening<br />

to create a cooling air current in the<br />

longitudinal direction of the house. Air is<br />

let out through wall fans/chimneys during<br />

cold periods and through gable fans<br />

during hot periods.<br />

Air Intake<br />

The air inlet is an essential part of a <strong>SKOV</strong><br />

ventilation system. <strong>SKOV</strong>’s specialists have<br />

many years’ experience in developing<br />

well-functioning components <strong>for</strong> air inlets.<br />

Several factors decide which type of air<br />

inlet to choose in order to get the most<br />

out of the ventilation system.<br />

additional air inlet bringing fresh air into<br />

the house via the garret when it is very<br />

DA 40A Air Supply Unit<br />

DA 40A is an air supply unit with 12<br />

individually adjustable nozzles <strong>for</strong> perfect<br />

distribution of air in the house. DA 40A<br />

reduces the risk of inconveniences caused<br />

by draught. DA 40A is designed <strong>for</strong> use in<br />

houses with equal pressure ventilation.<br />

DA 1200 Wall Inlet<br />

DA 1200 is a wall inlet which is easy to<br />

adapt to different buildings. It is designed<br />

to ensure optimum air current at all ventilation<br />

levels. A group of DA 1200 inlets can<br />

be opened differentiated, thus ensuring<br />

uni<strong>for</strong>m air distribution in the entire house<br />

at minimum ventilation.<br />

DA 1500/1800 Ceiling Inlets<br />

DA 1500 is a ceiling inlet that allows control<br />

of air volume, air velocity and air direction<br />

in relation to temperature and house<br />

layout. The design of the inlet flap means<br />

that the air always flows along the ceiling.<br />

The capacity of DA 1500 can there<strong>for</strong>e be<br />

used to its full potential ensuring opti-<br />

DA 50 Roof Inlet<br />

DA 50 is a roof inlet used in houses requiring<br />

air intake from the garret or from<br />

above the roof. DA 50 is fitted with air split<br />

baffles ensuring that air flows into the<br />

house in several layers, thus providing a<br />

high output at low air velocities. The inlet<br />

is designed <strong>for</strong> use in houses with LPV<br />

ventilation.<br />

Rack & Pinion<br />

Air Outlet<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> Components<br />

In a <strong>SKOV</strong> ventilation system, air is let out<br />

through chimneys or wall fans. <strong>SKOV</strong> has<br />

many years’ experience in developing<br />

sturdy, efficient and well-designed air<br />

outlets with an extremely high output.<br />

Different factors decide which air outlet to<br />

choose.<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong>’s air outlets are designed to ensure<br />

a high air output at low energy consumption.<br />

It is not enough that the individual units<br />

are efficient in themselves, the interaction<br />

between and total control of the units<br />

are equally important aspects. Most <strong>SKOV</strong><br />

ventilation systems are there<strong>for</strong>e controlled<br />

in accordance with the MultiStep®<br />

principle which is capable of minimising<br />

energy consumption while at the same<br />

time ensuring optimum use of the fresh<br />

air.<br />

DA 600 and DA 920 Outlets<br />

The DA roof outlets from <strong>SKOV</strong> are fitted<br />

with fans. The design of the outlets is aerodynamic<br />

to ensure optimum air output<br />

at low energy consumption. DA 600 and<br />

DA 920 are easy to install on the ridge or<br />

the side of the roof. A stable, reliable and<br />

tight installation is ensured if roof sheets<br />

are used. The outlets are extremely sturdy<br />

under all weather conditions.<br />

Wall Fans<br />

Wall fans are ideal as air outlets when additional<br />

capacity is needed in large houses or<br />

where large air volumes are required. When<br />

the requirement <strong>for</strong> air exceeds a certain<br />

level, one or more of the wall fans can be<br />

connected to supplement the chimneys.<br />

Alternatively, all air can be let out through<br />

wall fans. Wall fans are often installed<br />

in Combi-Tunnel and Tunnel-ventilated<br />

houses in tropical/subtropical regions.<br />

Interlinking<br />

All parts in <strong>SKOV</strong> ventilation systems are<br />

designed and chosen <strong>for</strong> the purpose of<br />

optimising the entire ventilation system.<br />

Connecting the components correctly<br />

ensures perfect interaction and thus optimum<br />

system per<strong>for</strong>mance.<br />

The winch motor controlling the air inlet<br />

and outlet is a key component of the interlinked<br />

system. <strong>SKOV</strong> offers a wide range<br />

of winch motors capable of operating<br />

from 1 to 128 inlets in a house.<br />

DA 75A Winch Motor<br />

DA 75A is a series of very sturdy and reliable<br />

winch motors designed especially <strong>for</strong><br />

controlling inlets and shutters in ventilation<br />

systems. The design of the motors has<br />

all functions gathered in a single cabinet.<br />

The design and construction of the winch<br />

motor makes it extremely easy to clean<br />

and maintenance-free. All the variants are<br />

relay-controlled and available <strong>for</strong> 24 V and<br />

230 V. In case of an emergency situation,<br />

a DOL 278 emergency opening unit can<br />

open all swivel shutters automatically using<br />

a 24 V variant.<br />

DA 174 Winch Motor<br />

The DA 174 winch motor has been designed<br />

especially <strong>for</strong> regulating wall and<br />

ceiling inlets in small sections. DA 174 is<br />

available with stepless regulation <strong>for</strong> inlets<br />

in LPV systems as well as <strong>for</strong> ON/OFF models<br />

<strong>for</strong> controlling additional air inlets in<br />

Combi-Diffuse houses. DA 174 is available<br />

as a 24 V standard model and can there<strong>for</strong>e<br />

be used in connection with emergency<br />

opening.<br />

Mounting Set<br />

Mounting sets with all the necessary parts,<br />

including washers, wires, screws, fittings,<br />

pulleys, etc., are supplied together with<br />

the necessary components, subsystems<br />

and systems. The mounting sets help<br />

ensure quick and correct installation of the<br />

system <strong>for</strong> optimum per<strong>for</strong>mance.<br />

the entire ventilation system.<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> has wide experience in developing<br />

user-friendly <strong>climate</strong> computers capable<br />

of handling both simple and advanced<br />

control tasks. All the <strong>climate</strong> computers<br />

have modular hardware and software allowing<br />

them to be tailored to suit individual<br />

producer requirements.<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong>’s <strong>climate</strong> computers control the<br />

<strong>climate</strong> efficiently and accurately, thus<br />

ensuring optimum <strong>growth</strong>.<br />

DOL 234F Climate Computer<br />

The DOL 234F series of <strong>climate</strong> computers<br />

is used in connection with the Combi-<br />

Diffuse, equal pressure and LPV ventilation<br />

principles. DOL 234F controls the <strong>climate</strong><br />

via the PID principle so that the temperature<br />

in the house is quickly adjusted to the<br />

required level, ensuring the best possible<br />

<strong>climate</strong> <strong>for</strong> the animals. DOL 234F controls<br />

the air outlet through MultiStep® in order to<br />

minimize power consumption. DOL 234F is<br />

operated by means of a rotary button and a<br />

graphical display.<br />

DOL 339 Climate Computer<br />

The DOL 339 series of <strong>climate</strong> computers<br />

is used in connection with the Tunnel, LPV<br />

and Combi-Tunnel ventilation principles.<br />

The controller is designed primarily <strong>for</strong><br />

poultry production and large houses. The<br />

temperature is controlled through the<br />

PID principle and the air outlet through<br />

MultiStep®. DOL 339 can be fitted with a<br />

production module capable of handling<br />

all basic functions in poultry production.<br />

DOL 339 is operated by means of a rotary<br />

button, a numeric keyboard and a graphical<br />

display.<br />

Alarm<br />

In mechanically ventilated houses, there is<br />

a high risk that animals will suffer serious<br />

harm if the ventilation system fails and<br />

is not re-established quickly. The oxygen<br />

content of the air is reduced; air humidity<br />

increases and the animals cannot get rid<br />

of their excess heat. A fast and efficient<br />

response is required. <strong>SKOV</strong>’s alarm systems<br />

are simple, reliable, stable and extremely<br />

efficient.<br />

DOL 2200 Alarm System<br />

DOL 2200 is a series of alarms triggering<br />

alarms via a local alarm indicator <strong>–</strong> a siren,<br />

a flashing light, etc. <strong>–</strong> or via a telephone<br />

in case of irregularities. DOL 2200 can<br />

monitor the temperature in 10 sections.<br />

Alternatively, ON/OFF can be selected<br />

<strong>for</strong> each input so that it can be used to<br />

trigger alarms <strong>for</strong> empty silo, stuck augers,<br />

oil burner defects, etc. Extension modules<br />

are available if more alarm inputs are<br />

required. DOL 2200 has a large graphical<br />

display that shows the temperature and<br />

alarm status <strong>for</strong> each input. If DOL 2200<br />

is connected to a telephone line, alarms<br />

can be transmitted to several telephones<br />

at the same time or in a specific order.<br />

Calls can be acknowledged thus stopping<br />

the alarm. All functions can be controlled<br />

remotely via a telephone.<br />

DOL 2100 Alarm System<br />

DOL 2100 has the same functionality as<br />

DOL 2200 but no graphical display. An<br />

external thermostat unit is required <strong>for</strong><br />

connecting temperature sensors.<br />

DOL 2020 <strong>–</strong> combined Alarm<br />

and Backup Thermostat<br />

DOL 2020 is an alarm system used primarily<br />

to monitor ventilation in houses in<br />

combination with three backup thermostats.<br />

Via a separate temperature sensor,<br />

DOL 2020 is able to monitor the temperature<br />

in a single house section and activate<br />

extra ventilation in three steps by means<br />

of the backup thermostats. Alternatively,<br />

one of the steps can activate a system <strong>for</strong><br />

high-pressure cooling, <strong>for</strong> example.<br />

Emergency Opening<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> Components<br />

A failing ventilation system is the most<br />

critical factor in a modern house; this<br />

requires immediate action. An emergency<br />

ventilation system ensures the well-being<br />

of the animals as well as production.<br />

When wall inlets, chimneys, etc. are used<br />

<strong>for</strong> ventilation, these air inlets and outlets<br />

can be used <strong>for</strong> emergency air intake.<br />

When diffuse ventilation is used, an<br />

alternative emergency air inlet is required<br />

in the <strong>for</strong>m of e.g. windows that can be<br />

opened if the ventilation system fails.<br />

DOL 278 Emergency Opening<br />

<strong>–</strong> temperature-controlled<br />

Together with <strong>SKOV</strong>’s <strong>climate</strong> computer,<br />

DOL 278 is an independent emergency<br />

opening system <strong>for</strong> opening the ventilation<br />

system in case of a power or technical<br />

failure or an operational error. The emergency<br />

opening system is integrated in<br />

DOL 278 and is activated when the house<br />

temperature exceeds the temperature<br />

set on DOL 278. The opening depends on<br />

how much the temperature is exceeded<br />

and is activated gradually.<br />

DOL 278 has a separate temperature<br />

sensor and there<strong>for</strong>e does not depend on<br />

<strong>climate</strong> computer measurements.<br />

DOL 278 features compensation <strong>for</strong> high<br />

outdoor temperatures, i.e. the outdoor<br />

temperature sensor overrides/postpones<br />

the emergency opening function if it is<br />

hot outside.<br />

DOL 278 Emergency Opening<br />

<strong>–</strong> ON/OFF<br />

Together, <strong>SKOV</strong>’s <strong>climate</strong> computer and<br />

DOL 278 <strong>for</strong>m an emergency opening<br />

system that opens the ventilation system<br />

completely in case of a power or technical<br />

failure. The emergency opening function<br />

is integrated in the <strong>climate</strong> computer; only<br />

the energy <strong>for</strong> opening the ventilation<br />

system is drawn from DOL 278. In case of a<br />

power failure, the connected air inlets and<br />

outlets are <strong>for</strong>ced open and the emergency<br />

opening system opens completely.<br />

Cooling<br />

An efficient cooling system helps promote<br />

animal well-being and productivity in hot<br />

periods. It may be an advantage to use<br />

cooling systems based on evaporation of<br />

water <strong>for</strong> the production of both broilers<br />

and pigs.<br />

An outdoor temperature exceeding 30° C<br />

in connection with broiler or pig production<br />

may have serious consequences<br />

<strong>for</strong> the animals in the <strong>for</strong>m of impaired<br />

<strong>growth</strong>, reduced productivity and thus<br />

increased mortality.<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> offers various cooling solutions capable<br />

of reducing the house temperature<br />

effectively.<br />

DA 2000 High-Pressure Cooling<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> offers an extremely reliable highpressure<br />

cooling system with a long<br />

service life. Built by standard components,<br />

this system is flexible and easy to adapt to<br />

a specific house.<br />

In the high-pressure cooling system,<br />

atomised water particles are added to the<br />

house air. These particles evaporate in the<br />

heated house air, thus cooling the air.<br />

DA 2000 also features other functions<br />

besides cooling. The high-pressure system<br />

can be used <strong>for</strong> both humidification and<br />

binding dust, and between the batches,<br />

the system can be used to soak the house.<br />

If ventilation is disconnected, the dense<br />

water particle mist will quickly soften dirt<br />

on various surfaces making them easier to<br />

clean.<br />

DA 100/150 Pad Cooling<br />

Pad cooling is used in connection with<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> Combi-Tunnel and Tunnel systems.<br />

Cooling is ensured by air taken in through<br />

pads, which are kept constantly moist by<br />

recirculating water. Air is sucked through<br />

these pads and cooled by the absorption<br />

of water vapour. <strong>SKOV</strong> offers a complete<br />

channel system that adapts easily to the<br />

relevant house. As opposed to other systems,<br />

no separate water tank is required<br />

<strong>for</strong> DA 100/150 pad cooling. The tank is<br />

built into the lower channel and is thus<br />

an integrated part of the channel system.<br />

Pads are easy to mount and remove by<br />

means of a click system: no tools are required.<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> uses recognised cooling pad<br />

brands with a long service life.<br />

Heating<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> Components<br />

An efficient heating system helps promote<br />

animal well-being and productivity in cold<br />

periods. If the heat supplied to the house<br />

is insufficient, a large part of the feed digested<br />

will be used to maintain the body<br />

heat of the animals.<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> offers inlets <strong>for</strong> heating system<br />

control.<br />

DA 74 Ball Valve<br />

DA 74 J/JK is a series of two-way and<br />

three-way control valves fitted with a<br />

motor. The motor is available as either<br />

an unenclosed (DA 74 J) or an enclosed<br />

model (DA 74 JK), which are well suited <strong>for</strong><br />

aggressive house environments requiring<br />

thorough cleaning. The valves have dirt<br />

traps and return valves.<br />

Solenoid Valve<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong>’s solenoid valves are extremely reliable.<br />

The solenoid valves are two-way ON/<br />

OFF valves making them well suited <strong>for</strong><br />

small houses. The valves have a dirt trap<br />

and a return valve.<br />

Production Control<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong>’s computers monitor and control<br />

feed and water supply to the animals,<br />

registering the weight of the animals<br />

through continuous weighing. In addition,<br />

the production computer keeps track of<br />

the current number of animals, installed<br />

animals and dead animals.<br />

DOL 95 Broiler Production<br />

Computer<br />

The DOL 95 Broiler production computer<br />

has a flexible and efficient feed control system<br />

which is based on an advanced feed<br />

program that also registers the quantity of<br />

feed consumed. The production computer<br />

registers the weight of the chickens<br />

through a connected poultry weigher; it<br />

also controls light and water and registers<br />

the silo content. DOL 95 can store data <strong>for</strong><br />

up to six batches of broilers.<br />

DOL 95 Breeder Production<br />

Computer<br />

DOL 95 Breeder is a production computer<br />

<strong>for</strong> animals being reared as well as <strong>for</strong> parent<br />

stock. The DOL 95 Breeder computer<br />

not only offers the same high functionality<br />

level and possibilities as the DOL 95 Broiler<br />

computer, it also contains functions used<br />

especially <strong>for</strong> animals being reared and<br />

parent stock. The key function in this connection<br />

is separate outlet feeding which is<br />

used in houses where animals are divided<br />

into groups with different feeding needs or<br />

in the production of parent stock requiring<br />

separate outlet feeding of hens and cocks.<br />

DOL 96 Weighing Computer<br />

DOL 96 is designed especially to monitor<br />

production in houses with poultry where<br />

DOL 96 can register the weight of the<br />

birds. DOL 96 is available in three models<br />

which can be connected to two, four or<br />

eight poultry weighers, respectively. For<br />

each poultry weigher, DOL 96 calculates<br />

data such as average weight, <strong>growth</strong>, deviation<br />

in relation to reference weight, etc.<br />

DOL 65 Production Computer<br />

DOL 65 has a flexible and efficient feed<br />

control system. DOL 65 can be used in<br />

connection with dry feeding systems and<br />

monitor/control the production of finishers<br />

from weaning up to slaughtering.<br />

Animal Weighers<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> Components<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong>’s animal weighers, which ensure accurate<br />

measurements, are sturdy and reliable<br />

and thus provide the producer with a<br />

better yardstick <strong>for</strong> his production.<br />

As the weighers are in direct contact with<br />

the animals, they are designed to cope<br />

with the natural, harsh house environment<br />

and animal behaviour. Furthermore, the<br />

weighers are not only easy to clean but<br />

also easy to remove <strong>for</strong> cleaning purposes.<br />

DOL 98B Poultry Weigher<br />

The DOL 98B poultry weigher is designed<br />

<strong>for</strong> weighing poultry up to 3kg. The<br />

weigher is typically used in combination<br />

with the DOL 95 production computer in<br />

connection with broiler production. One<br />

poultry weigher per house typically gives<br />

between 200 and 1000 weighings per 24<br />

hours. The average weight and variation<br />

values are there<strong>for</strong>e very close to the<br />

actual values in the house. The mechanical<br />

construction of the weigher is adapted<br />

specifically <strong>for</strong> the environment in poultry<br />

houses.<br />

DOL 94 Plat<strong>for</strong>m Weigher<br />

DOL 94 is a plat<strong>for</strong>m weigher designed <strong>for</strong><br />

automatic weighing of poultry up to 10kg.<br />

DOL 94 registers the weight of the birds<br />

extremely accurately and transfers the<br />

weighing data to a connected livestock<br />

house computer. The bird weigher resets<br />

after each weighing and deposit on the<br />

plat<strong>for</strong>m weigher of dirt and litter is there<strong>for</strong>e<br />

not a problem. Likewise, it can take<br />

into account that several birds mount the<br />

bird weigher at the same time. DOL 94 is<br />

easy to handle, clean and calibrate.<br />

Feed Weighers<br />

Feed is an important financial cost in<br />

animal production. Feed consumption<br />

in relation to production is an important<br />

parameter <strong>for</strong> evaluating farm efficiency.<br />

It must there<strong>for</strong>e be possible <strong>for</strong> the<br />

professional producer to carry out ongoing<br />

analyses of production. With feed<br />

weighers from <strong>SKOV</strong>, the producer has<br />

every chance of finding and removing the<br />

causes <strong>for</strong> any irregularities in production.<br />

DOL 99 Feed Weigher<br />

The DOL 99 feed weigher is a stand-alone<br />

weigher. The DOL 99 feed weigher can<br />

dose one component and DOL 99-2 two<br />

components. DOL 99-2 can be used e.g.<br />

<strong>for</strong> the production of broilers that are<br />

given complete feed and wheat. DOL 99<br />

and DOL 99-2 are equipped with control<br />

units <strong>for</strong> controlling the weigher and<br />

calculating and saving the values of the<br />

weighed quantities of feed. For DOL 99-2,<br />

the mixture ratio <strong>for</strong> the two components<br />

is also set in this control unit.<br />

DOL 99B Feed Weigher<br />

The DOL 99B feed weigher works together<br />

with <strong>SKOV</strong>’s production computers. The<br />

DOL 99B feed weigher can dose up to<br />

five components. All data is entered and<br />

read out via the production computer.<br />

The totally weighed quantity of feed as<br />

well as the quantity at periodic, 24-hour<br />

and batch levels can be displayed on the<br />

production computer.<br />

Air Cleaning<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> Components<br />

The incentive to develop systems <strong>for</strong><br />

cleaning house air derives from the<br />

agricultural sector being under great<br />

national and international pressure to<br />

reduce its environmental load. For animal<br />

production, this involves requirements <strong>for</strong><br />

a reduction of ammonia emissions, other<br />

nitrogen compounds, etc.<br />

This also applies to odours from houses.<br />

Producers are facing an increasing number<br />

of limitations when they wish to establish<br />

new house systems or extend them. These<br />

limitations often occur in the <strong>for</strong>m of<br />

protests against the odour load.<br />

Recent research results have shown that<br />

dust from houses can be disease carriers.<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> has developed an efficient air-cleaning<br />

system <strong>for</strong> cleaning the outgoing air.<br />

Farm AirClean<br />

Farm AirClean is a system <strong>for</strong> biological<br />

cleaning of air. The system is based solely<br />

on biological air-cleaning principles. These<br />

principles are effective when it comes to<br />

reducing odour, ammonia and dust.<br />

Thorough Testing of the System<br />

has shown that:<br />

• The content of ammonia in the outgoing<br />

air from the house is reduced to less<br />

than 1 ppm.<br />

• The ‘pig smell’ is removed from the<br />

outgoing air.<br />

• The content of dust in the outgoing air<br />

is reduced by 95%.<br />

Farm AirClean is a modular system where<br />

the quantity of air cleaning cabinets can<br />

be calculated based on the number of<br />

cubic metres of house air to be cleaned.<br />

The cleaning units are available in capaci-<br />

ties ranging from 10,000 to 40,000 cubic<br />

metres per hour. All units are fitted with<br />

automatic filter washers.<br />

The house air is sent through two filters<br />

which are sprinkled with water. Ammonia<br />

and odour substances are removed<br />

in both filters while most of the dust is<br />

removed in the first filter. The air cleaning<br />

process is a biological process. Bio films<br />

of bacteria and other microorganisms are<br />

<strong>for</strong>med on the filters. Ammonia, odour<br />

substances and dust are removed when<br />

the house air gets into contact with the<br />

water and the bio films in the filters.<br />

Management - FarmOnline®<br />

Access to data at the right<br />

time and place<br />

FarmOnline® is a management tool which<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> has developed <strong>for</strong> use by the still<br />

larger pig and poultry farms. The system<br />

ensures the producer the highest possible<br />

yield from his production facility. Farm-<br />

Online® is able to monitor several house<br />

computers from a central location and<br />

present the collected data graphically.<br />

Fast, competent action<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong>’s new generation of house computers<br />

has a built-in LAN Ethernet. It is,<br />

there<strong>for</strong>e, not necessary to collect data between<br />

house computers and a PC thanks<br />

to the live connection of FarmOnline® to<br />

all house computers on the farm.<br />

The system also makes it possible <strong>for</strong><br />

the producer to react immediately to an<br />

alarm and, if required, change the house<br />

computer setup via FarmOnline®. When an<br />

alarm is generated, the producer can react<br />

quickly and efficiently. Quick action may<br />

ensure the welfare of the animals as well<br />

as reduce or completely prevent financial<br />

losses.<br />

Visualisation<br />

FarmOnline® is able to import the producer’s<br />

own photos and drawings of the<br />

farm and sections, ensuring high graphic<br />

recognisability in the program.<br />

So-called hotspots can be added to the<br />

overview pictures to show the key values<br />

<strong>for</strong> indoor temperatures, alarm status, etc.<br />

Adding graphic features <strong>for</strong> all levels (farm,<br />

house, section) will make it easy <strong>for</strong> the<br />

producer to navigate in the program,<br />

ensuring fast overview of conditions and<br />

accurate localisation of deviations.<br />

The overview function enables alternative<br />

reading of key values and alarm and house<br />

status <strong>for</strong> the entire farm and <strong>for</strong> individual<br />

The producer chooses which values to be<br />

included in the overview function.<br />

Tables can be exported to other file <strong>for</strong>mats<br />

such as PDF, Microsoft Excel, etc. <strong>for</strong><br />

documentation or analysis.<br />

Alarms<br />

Alarms are shown by means of a pop-up<br />

function, no matter which program is active<br />

on the PC.<br />

FarmOnline® displays alarms as red markings.<br />

Simply click the marking to open an<br />

alarm window with alarm details. Users<br />

authorised <strong>for</strong> this may acknowledge the<br />

alarm. Notes on alarm causes, troubleshooting,<br />

etc. can also be added to each alarm.<br />

The Log and Diagram functions contain<br />

various search criteria making it possible<br />

to analyse the occurrence of historic<br />

alarms, thus adding to the experience of<br />

the users. In addition to alarms from <strong>SKOV</strong><br />

house computers, FarmOnline® is also able<br />

to handle alarms from external units.<br />

To get a complete picture, alarms can also<br />

be entered manually into the FarmOnline®<br />

Climate<br />

Once the producer has become familiar<br />

with the various overview screens, the<br />

<strong>climate</strong> screen makes it possible to go<br />

deeper into the <strong>climate</strong> control function.<br />

Selected key values <strong>for</strong> temperature,<br />

humidity and ventilation are displayed<br />

by means of easily comprehensible<br />

graphic elements in which settings can be<br />

changed directly. Batch curves are also accessible<br />

Sensors<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> Components<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> is marketing a range of environmental<br />

sensors in connection with its<br />

ventilation and production systems. These<br />

sensors are used primarily together with<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> house computers, supplying them<br />

with in<strong>for</strong>mation about the <strong>climate</strong> in the<br />

house.<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> also develops, produces and markets<br />

a wide range of capacitive sensors<br />

under the DOL Sensors® trademark. These<br />

sensors are primarily acquired by the agricultural<br />

and feedstuff sectors but they are<br />

also sold to a wide range of other industries<br />

in the process technology area.<br />

Environmental Sensors<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong>’s environmental sensors are designed<br />

<strong>for</strong> carrying out measurements<br />

in atmospheric air. They are very sturdy<br />

as well as easy to install and use. DOL 14<br />

is a compact, fully electronic humidity<br />

sensor <strong>for</strong> measuring relative air humidity<br />

levels. DOL 15 is a universal, fully electronic<br />

temperature sensor. DOL 17 is a CO 2<br />

sensor<br />

designed specifically <strong>for</strong> measuring<br />

CO 2<br />

concentrations in aggressive house<br />

environments.<br />

Capacitive Sensors<br />

<strong>SKOV</strong> also offers a wide range of capacitive<br />

sensors.<br />

The DOL 40R series is based on microcomputer<br />

technology and sensitivity and<br />

time delay are set using two push buttons.<br />

The DOL 40R series is available with or<br />

without thread. Accessories are available<br />

in the <strong>for</strong>m of plastic glands and T-fittings<br />

<strong>for</strong> mounting on pipes. The sensors in the<br />

DOL 40R series are CE and C-UL-approved<br />

and are also available in ATEX-approved<br />

models <strong>for</strong> use in environments where<br />

dust explosions may occur.<br />

DOL 25 is a sensor series that makes it possible<br />

<strong>for</strong> buyers of large series to combine<br />

their own sensor to meet exactly the<br />

requirements specified <strong>for</strong> solving the individual<br />

specific task. A range of standard<br />

variants meeting standard requirements<br />

is also available. DOL 25 is available in numerous<br />

variants, including optional choice<br />

of displays, threads, case dimensions and<br />

case materials. The sensors in the DOL 25<br />

series are CE and C-UL-approved.<br />
