7.1.1 Belgaum<br />
Belgaum district located in the north-western part <strong>of</strong> the State lies between 15°15’00’’ to 17°00’00’’ N latitudes<br />
<strong>and</strong> 73°59’00’’ to 75°30’00’’ longitudes E. The district has a total geographical area <strong>of</strong> 13,415 sq. km.<br />
East flowing rivers namely, Malaprabha, Mark<strong>and</strong>eya, Dudganga, Krishna, Mahadai <strong>and</strong> Ghataprabha drain<br />
this district. Hidkal, Renuka Sagar reservoir/Barrages <strong>and</strong> Rakaskoppa tanks are the large wetl<strong>and</strong>s <strong>of</strong> this<br />
district. Famous falls like Gokak, Vajrapoha, Godachina malki <strong>and</strong> Ghataprabha Bird century are located in<br />
this district, which enriches the wetl<strong>and</strong>s.<br />
