Remember the first day you began your career in the fire<br />

service? Somewhere in the back of your mind is probably a<br />

great fire service instructor. He or she just may be the person<br />

who introduced you to the greatest job in America. <strong>Fire</strong> service<br />

instructors are the guardians of knowledge, skills and ability in the<br />

fire service - their knowledge is wrapped up in a long tradition<br />

that has served many generations of firefighters well. As protectors<br />

of that tradition, instructors look to and rely on creativity while<br />

constantly striving to perfect training. In this workshop we will<br />

cover three areas: Legal Issues, Disruptive and Unsafe Behaviors in<br />

the Classroom, and Today’s Adult Learners Generation X, Y and<br />

the Baby Boomers.<br />

Certification Workshop - Waterway 8<br />

Certification Board Representative<br />

Workshop attendance is a requirement for all Certification<br />

Coordinators as continuing education in order to maintain the<br />

department’s participation status within the Certification Program.<br />

Full Coordinators are required to attend a workshop once every<br />

two years, and provisionally certified Coordinators are required to<br />

attend annually.<br />
