PRESIDENT’S LETTER LETTER Welcome to The Woodlands, one of the most innovative communities in the United States born out of one of the country’s leading masterplanned communities. On behalf of the SFFMA Gulf Coast/Tri-Rivers Districts and me, we are pleased to welcome you to the 137th Annual State Firemen’s & Fire Marshals’ Association Training Conference and Convention. We are also pleased to partner with The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center as our host hotel. A luxurious facility located in the heart of The Woodlands featuring a 70,000 sq. ft. Convention Center with excellent spaces for meetings, training, exhibits, and social events. Enjoy the outdoor pool and hot tub, fitness center, and spa in your free time while attending the convention. Our Training Conference and Convention will kick-off at 9:15 AM Saturday with our annual Exhibitor Show. All booths are sold out, so be sure to stop by the vendors and thank them for supporting our Association. This is also a great time to see new technology, equipment, and tools on display. A change in the traditional schedule this year is with the Pumper Races. The races will be held at The Woodlands Fire Department Fire Training Facility Saturday beginning at 4:30 PM instead of Tuesday. Registration for team members will be available in the Exhibit Hall until 3 PM. I have scheduled the President’s Reception Sunday evening following the first business session. Town Green Park is exclusively reserved for our event. Four acres of green space, Town Green Park is located within walking distance of the host hotel along the banks of The Woodlands Waterway next to The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The reception will begin at 6:30 PM with hotdogs catered by the Houston area exclusive James Coney Island. Come by and enjoy gourmet hotdogs served from the Coney Cruiser, Blue Bell ice cream, and good music. Training and education will take place on Monday and Tuesday. The Speaker and Training Committee has done an outstanding job of developing training tracks and sessions that will interest everyone. We have speakers and presenters from all over the country who will conduct fifty-six sessions in thirteen tracks during two days of training. Thank you all for taking time out of your busy lives to attend the 137th Annual Training Conference and Convention. If you have any unmet needs while here, don’t hesitate to bring it to the attention of your Executive Board or any one of the Association staff members.
