Burial Expenses
• 5 U.S.C. § 8134 provides “up to” $800 for
burial expenses.
• 5 U.S.C. § 8133 gives an additional $200
to reimburse “the costs of termination i of
the decedent’s status as an employee of
the United States.”
• (These payments are deducted from the
$10,000 general gratuity payable at the
discretion of the agency to federal
employees who die in the performance of
duty.)
