2002: From Our Point of View - Miami Lakes Educational Center

design, international business and marketing, pre-nursing, automotive service technology,

As a tuition-free public
high school with an international
profile, Miami Lakes
Educational Center will
continue to pursue the
integration of intellectual
and technical endeavors.
August 2000, MLEC High
School Division opened its
doors to approximately 350
9th and lOth graders. And so
began a new chapter of
education, with the convergence
of an adult vocational
center and a secondary
academic institution. With
its first fruits of labor, a new
highly marketable wave of
high school graduates is
scheduled to be ripe for the
picking by employee-hungry
industries by mid 2003.
Those 9th and lOth graders
are to be the precedence for,
not only the MLEC students
who follow them, but also
for all the institutions that
are built upon the revolutionary
groundwork that
MLEC has set.
MLEC involves the parents
and guardians as much as the
students, by ensuring that the
parents and guardians are
aware of their children's
academic progress and
attendance at all times. We
ensure that the learningconducive
environment
begins far before 7:30 and
continues far after 2:30.
With the beginning of a
new academic year approaching,
the 2001-2002 New
Student Orientation is the
preamble to this parent/
school collaboration. Parents
with their students in tow
poured into the dining hall
eager to be involved in their
children's eminent success.
With a passionate faculty
led by a competent and
dedicated administrative
body, MLEC has set the
standard for schools of its
sort.
