Gel Imaging Systems
Biometra offers a wide range of high performance systems for documentation and
analysis of electrophoresis gels and blots. The systems are focussed on the needs of
everyday imaging applications in teaching and routine laboratories as well as demanding
tasks in science and research. The latest software release even more demonstrates that
a highly versatile software can also be applied without any detailed training. The wellthought-out
software interface allows a quick and easy professional gel analysis.
BioDocAnalyze Software
NEW! BDA-Software-Upgrade 2011
BioDocAnalyze (BDA)
The BioDocAnalyze (BDA) software is
powerful in imaging and analysing
1D electrophoresis gels and blots. The
latest software upgrade introduced even
some more benefits. For an easy use of the
full functional range of different camera
types it provides specific image capture
windows for BDAdigital and BDA live.
The gel analysis software is already included
in BDAdigital and BDA live systems. But it
can also be used on separate computers
for images taken with the documentation
system UVsolo TS or with other devices.
The BDA software is developed for an
intuitive and reliable analysis of gels and
blots. Files with compatible formats jpg,
tif and bmp can be imported into the BDA
analysis software.
Defining of lanes and bands is a matter
of seconds. Clearly defined buttons for all
important functions allow a complete gel
analysis with a few mouse-clicks.
Detected bands are not only marked with
a line but are encircled in their whole area.
For maximum flexibility it is also possible
to encircle bands free-hand. The automatic
background deduction ensures accurate
scientific quantification. Normalization of
bands allows a fast comparison of samples.
Analysis results are displayed on the gel or
in a result table which can be exported to
Microsoft ® Excel. Comments, annotations
and arrows can be freely added to the
image in a wide range of formats.
The new merging function is especially of
help for analysis of chemiluminescence
blots: Different images or frames and an
image can be overlayed, aligned and
merged. This way it is possible to add
marker lanes acquired with visible light to
imported images with chemiluminescence
signals.
Features
Automatic lane and band recognition
Add, delete and separate lanes and bands
Optimisation of detection parameters
Automatic background adjustment
Automatic calculation for size/MW, mass, Rf
Compensation of smiling and distorted gels
Zoom and invert function
Import of TIF, JPG, and BMP files,
export of TIF files
Data export to MS Excel
Printing of images and data tables
Add annotations to lanes, bands and gel image
Saving of comment formats and
comment samples
Creating of frames
Overlay and merging of gel images
Simultaneous display of intensity profiles
of lanes
Similarity Analysis –
upgrade module
The standard BioDocAnalyze software can
be upgraded with the Similarity Analysis
Module for comparison and matching of
fragment patterns.
This extremely fast and easy to use
software analyses fingerprint gels, e.g.
RFLP patterns, with one mouse click.
Features
Similarity analysis according to Rf or molecular
weight of bands
Cluster analysis (UPGMA, Neighbour Joining)
Similarity and distance matrix
0/1 matrix
Reference lanes, lane list
Correlation coefficients
Pearson, Dice, Jaccard, Cosine, Overlap
Export and printing of tables and dendrograms
