ANNUAL INVESTMENT MARKET REPORT The Foundation’s cash and investment portfolio increased its overall market value during the last twelve months to $118,950,631 from $110,654,271 even with expenditures totaling $5,067,362. The Foundation’s investment strategy has resulted in a 10.7% return for the year, up from the prior year’s 7.6%. On recommendations by our financial advisors, the Foundation has implemented a Board-approved target asset allocation during 2007 that reflects a more long-term focus and diversification commensurate with other similar foundations and public institutional investors. The new target allocation strategy of 55% equities, 35% fixed income, and 10% alternative investments will allow the portfolio to grow over the long-term taking advantage of future market conditions to improve the portfolio returns at acceptable risk levels. The Foundation continues with a manager-of-managers approach to the management of its investment portfolio, as recommended by our financial advisors. This strategy provides the DMF portfolio with a broad diversification of multiple investment managers, styles, and securities.
