10 intercultural programs Internship Program Participating in this program is the best way of acquiring working experience, while learning a new language. This experience will prepare the participants for the future and immerse themselves into the local culture and working environment. Standard Internships: The interns should apply for one of the placements available from the most important areas offered by our host institutions. Customized Internships: This implies a specialized search according to the interns’ expectations and needs, the area in which they would like to develop their professional experience and the type of position to undertake, based on the tasks they would like to do. The program includes: Internship position; paperwork edition and/or translation of the letter of intent and cv; pre-departure orientation; 24-hour emergency telephone number; welcome pack; COINED permanent tutorship; social and cultural activities and free Internet access, mailbox and fax receptions. The maximum length is 12 months and minimum commitment of 2 months. Once the application documents are received, it takes a minimum of 8 weeks to confirm the placement. All our placements require intermediate level of Spanish. Classes for Volunteers and Interns (Optional): 4 Spanish group lessons with emphasis on grammar and general communication and 2 complementary lessons which focus on the specific topics the participant will be dealing with such as politeness, telephone conversations, presentation, writing and speaking skills. intercultural programs Teach Abroad The Teach Abroad Program is for young people who want to get a deep insight into the culture.This program implies sharing daily life with a host family, learning their language and culture and adopting it as their own for a period of time. At the same time, the participants will share their own language and culture with the members of the local family. This program includes: Placement in a host family; room and board in exchange for lessons of 15 hours per week; COINED permanent tutorship; orientation workshop and material upon arrival; 24-hour emergency phone number; access to social and cultural activities. Paid Work Experience Location 1 - 3 months 4 - 6 months Spain Argentina Chile Costa Rica € 850 U$S 750 U$S 750 U$S 750 € 1050 U$S 1050 U$S 1050 U$S 1050 This program includes: Spanish level test; welcome-orientation talk; assistance in obtaining the NIE (Número de Identificación de Extranjeros) and social security number; social and cultural activities; free Internet access and Wi-Fi connection; free reception of mail and faxes; 24-hour emergency number, assistance to open a local bank account and work experience certificate. *It is compulsory to hire accommodation for 1 month in Barcelona and 3 months in Marbella. In this program the participants will practise their Spanish skills while they self-finance their stay in Spain. This program is offered in and around Barcelona and Marbella in popular summer resorts, hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars, amusement parks, retail shops, boutiques and supermarkets. Both locations can be combined. The participant will become a member of the host family, providing in-home child care and creating bonds with the family’s children. In return for some hours of childcare and light housework, the au pair will receive full board, accommodation and pocket money.The program includes: Placement in a host family; full board, accommodation and pocket money; pre-departure orientation; workshop and material upon arrival; 24-hour emergency telephone number; COINED permanent tutorship; free Internet access, mailbox, Wi-Fi Service and fax reception; cultural and social activities. Location Price All over Spain € 400 Dates and Lenght of these programs • Teach Abroad runs throughout the year and can be started any time. However, families normally accept participants during the school period (September up to June) and summer period (July and August). • Paid Work Experience has a maximum stay of of three months. The start dates for Summer are March, April, May, June and July and for Winter September, October and December. • Au pair specially runs during the school months (September up to June) and school holidays (July and August). 11
