World class k-12 systems, college
and universities are all part of
the educational landscape in
North Clackamas. Whether your goal is
workforce development, professional
development, or personal growth,
schools and colleges in North Clackamas
offer learning opportunities for
all ages. Understanding that education
is a foundation of both commerce and
community, businesses make regular
contributions to area schools through
business partnerships, student mentorships,
and volunteerism.
Developing tomorrow’s workforce
The community’s public K-12
schools include the North Clackamas
School District and the Gladstone
School District. Some 20,000 students
attend the 30 schools in these
two systems.
North Clackamas Schools offer relevant
and innovative approaches to
meet the individual learning needs
of each student. Rigorous graduation
requirements and a variety of charter
and magnet programs help students
outpace the state average for math,
writing, and reading while producing
a record low dropout rate. A bond
approved by voters in 2006 will build
four new schools while renovating
existing schools to 21st century standards.
This effort will bring $162 million
in business to the local economy
by the end of 2008 through green
construction practices that emphasize
purchasing building materials
and services locally.
The Gladstone District has three
schools with a focus on high academic
expectations, life-long learning, and
technology. Thanks to community
support for a 2006 bond, the district is
creating a state-of- the-art applied science
and technology center, renovating
fine arts facilities, and adding an early
childhood education center.
Several private schools serve the area,
including Portland Waldorf School,
LaSalle High School, and St. John the
Baptist Catholic School. A number of
area churches and charter schools offer
additional education options.
Continuing your education
Clackamas Community College facility
at Harmony Community Campus
offers a full range of student
services, permitting the campus to
provide something for everyone from
degree completion programs to classes
for personal interest.
Harmony campus is the home for
CCC’s booming Health Science Division,
meeting the need for trained
health care workers in the region. CCC
offers transfer credit classes for those
