BASIC FUNCTION: The incumbent is the team leader of a warehouse crew,
operates medium to large size truck and forklift to provide support to the
warehouse and loading dock, drives vehicles to transport the warehouse crew,
load and unload supplies, equipment, furniture, tools and other materials to
USG facilities and residences. Will drive, load, unload independently as
required.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drives, loads and unloads 4 medium to large size trucks and 2 fork-lifts
to provide support to the warehouse, the warehouse crew, and loading dock.
Guides, directs, assists in the loading and unloading of supplies,
furniture and appliances and equipments from trucks to and from the
chancery, warehouse and residences and other designated locations.
Moves and assists in organizing supplies, household furniture,
appliances, office supplies and equipment into proper storage areas using
hand trucks and trolleys, and other manually operated materials handling
equipment. Picks indentified items from warehouse shelves, segregates and
assembles items and moves to and from the loading dock to proper storage
areas.
Sets up furniture in offices and residences according to standard
layouts. Assists in keeping warehouse clean and in conducting inventories.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
1. Education: Completion of Elementary School.
2. Language Proficiency: Should have Level II (limited knowledge) English
& Level III (Good Working Knowledge) Bangla required.
3. Prior Work Experience: 2 to 3 years of chauffeur or appropriate driving
experience is required. 6 to 12 months experience as a manual worker with a
public or private organization.
4. Knowledge: Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and local traffic laws
and familiar with traffic patterns required.
5. Skills and Abilities: Local valid drivers’ license for large trucks and
forklifts required. Ability to drive and operate medium or large size trucks and
forklifts. Capable of making sound judgment in different driving situations.
Must be able to lift heavy loads and perform moderately heavy work. Should
be able to operate hand truck, trolley or other manual material handling
equipment.
