Strategy Courses are available for enrollment for students who need additional support with vital<br />
academic and life skills;<br />
Academic Accountability for students who require support to meet GPA requirements for graduation<br />
and academic success.<br />
WRITING & TUTORING SERVICES<br />
The Tutor<strong>in</strong>g and Writ<strong>in</strong>g Center offers free tutor<strong>in</strong>g sessions and paper review services for all traditional<br />
SNU students.<br />
DISABILITY SERVICES (DS)<br />
SNU provides services for all students with disabilities as def<strong>in</strong>ed by the Americans with Disabilities Act<br />
of 1990 as amended by the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 (ADA). A qualified person with a disability<br />
means: "an <strong>in</strong>dividual with a disability who, with or without reasonable modifications to rules, policies,<br />
or practices, the removal of architectural, communication, or transportation barriers, or the provision of<br />
auxiliary aids and service, meets the essential eligibility requirements for the receipt of services or the<br />
participation <strong>in</strong> programs or activities provided by a public entity"(Public Law 101-336, Sec. 201).<br />
Students are required to self-identify and to provide documentation of their disability prior to the<br />
provision of services.<br />
In the case of medical disability, documentation from a physician is appropriate. In the case of learn<strong>in</strong>g<br />
disability, acceptable documentation <strong>in</strong>cludes a psycho-educational evaluation performed by a licensed<br />
cl<strong>in</strong>ical psychologist if the diagnosis was made after the completion of high school or psychoeducational<br />
evaluation from an accredited high school. Documentation provided to request academic<br />
accommodations must be less than three years old and must conta<strong>in</strong> specific recommendations for<br />
accommodations appropriate to the diagnosed disability. Students with a disability that may affect<br />
academic success are encouraged to contact Disability Services at (405) 717-6272 for more <strong>in</strong>formation.<br />
STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES (SSS)<br />
SSS is fully funded by a federal grant through the U.S. Department of Education (TRIO Programs). In<br />
order to qualify for SSS you must be:<br />
A first generation college student (neither parent has a bachelor’s degree)<br />
Have a documented disability<br />
Be Pell eligible<br />
To be eligible students, the SSS program provides various support services <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g:<br />
Academic advisement and support<br />
Personalized tutor<strong>in</strong>g<br />
Assistance <strong>in</strong> apply<strong>in</strong>g for student f<strong>in</strong>ancial aid<br />
Life skills counsel<strong>in</strong>g<br />
Academic workshops<br />
Cultural events and educational trips<br />
Study center<br />
Referrals to campus and community resources<br />
TESTING SERVICES<br />
Test<strong>in</strong>g Services provides proctors for Residual ACT exams, CLEP test<strong>in</strong>g for course credit and other<br />
degree specific proficiency exams.
