It is time to make your reservations
now for this year’s Department of
Texas Convention. Chapter 1836
is our host and your registration
form is on the facing page. The
Convention will be held in the El
Tropicana Hotel in San Antonio,
arrivals on May the 31 st , and
convention events continuing thru
the 2 nd of June, with the 2 nd for golf
if you play. Chapter Commanders,
you will need to decide if you or
one of your officers will attend,
remember if you or your chapter
delegate stays on the night of the
2 nd of June he should pay for the
extra day. Remember, if you do not
send a copy of your Chapter
Election Report to Dept Adjutant,
John Footman, your chapter
cannot vote. The Election Report
needs to be sent immediately after
Installation of Officers, both to
Department and to National
Headquarters. Bring a copy of the
report with you to the convention
in case the report was not received
in time for the convention.

As we come up on April all Units
will need to send me their Unit
Installation Report. My address is
4903 Transit Circle Austin, TX
78727-5144. Please remember,
without that report on file with
National and Department, you will
not have a vote at the Department
Convention in San Antonio, or the
National Convention. This means
your Unit does not have a voice.
Also, it is not just the Installation
Report that you need to send to
Department and National, you have
11 other forms that can be down
loaded from the National website.

Go the “Ladies Auxiliary” page and
click on “Forms.” You will need to
send Department a copy of each one
of these forms and you will need to
send a copy to the addresses that are
listed in Purple Heart Magazine
under the Ladies Officers. The
Department of Texas Convention
will be in San Antonio, please
remember to ask your Unit to help
with Ways and Means. We will be
giving a twenty-dollar award to the
Unit that brings in the most “Brown
Bags.” A ten-dollar award will be
given to the Unit with the prettiest
decorated “Brown Bag.”
I hope everyone has a good
election. Remember to encourage
your members to vote and have a
voice in their Unit.
