Course Description:
HIS 3313 A/G & COGIC - History and Culture (3 credits)
The student will review the historical developments of the Assemblies of God and the
Church of God in Christ. A comparison of the cultural heritages, doctrinal development,
and polity will be considered.

historical-social context, historical development, and polity of the Assemblies of
God denomination.
b. The student will be able to express the organizational structure of the Assemblies
of God governance.
c. The student will fulfill the Assemblies of God educational requirement listed for
licensing.

Course Requirements:
Grading:
1. Read the textbooks mark with an asterisk and two additional books (your choice) from
the list.
2. Write a five-page book review for each of the required textbooks. (Excluding the
Constitution and Bylaws.)
3. Compose a flow chart which demonstrates the organizational structure of the
Assemblies of God and COGIC governance. (This chart needs to include the national
through the local governance.)
4. Pass an oral and/or online comprehensive exam which covers the history of the
Assembles of God and COGIC denomination.
5. The assignments must be completed 12 weeks after the course begins.

C. Final oral and/or online exam 30%
