I. Hill 60 Park
Take in the spectacular views of Port Kembla Beach from Hill
60 Park. A popular take off area for hang gliders and para
gliders, Hill 60 Park has BBQ facilities as well as picnic shelters,
seats and tables positioned to enjoy the scenic views.
J. Kanahooka Point & Koonawarra Bay
Featuring a cycle way that borders around Lake Illawarra,
Kanahooka Point is the place to enjoy a variety of activities.
A ramp located at the northern end of the park is a great place
to launch boats for a day of water activities. The park is
surrounded by landscaped gardens and large grassy areas.

Wollongong’s Foreshore Parks offer a variety of recreational
facilities to ensure an enjoyable visit to the Illawarra.
Picnic shelters and huts cannot be booked and are frequently
used on the weekends so get in early to secure a spot. Park
bookings for large functions are required and can be made
by contacting the Recreation and Natural Resources Division
of Wollongong City Council.

K. Windang Foreshore Park
For those who prefer a spot of fishing, Windang Foreshore
Park is the ideal location. Situated next to Lake Illawarra,
Windang Beach and Windang Tourist Park, this area is the
perfect spot to sit back and relax by the water. This park
features a playground, with picnic shelters and ample shade
trees.
Whether it be a picnic with the family or a lazy afternoon in
the sun, Wollongong’s foreshore parks are the ideal place for
any occasion.

Foreshore Parks
Stretching along 60km of beautiful coastline, Wollongong’s
Foreshore Parks offer some of the best recreational areas
along the coast. Some of the park features include
BBQ and picnic areas, regional playground facilities, large
grassy open space areas and spectacular coastal views.
These parks are located adjacent to the city’s patrolled beaches
(October – April) and the splendour of Lake Illawarra.
A. Bald Hill Headland Reserve &
B. Stanwell Park Recreation Area
Just 30 mins south of Sydney, Bald Hill
Headland reserve offers some of the most
spectacular views across Wollongong.
Bald Hill is recognised world wide for the
birth of flight and for hang gliding. Just a
short drive down the hill is Stanwell Park
Recreation area. This area offers a regional
playground facility and kiosk and is within
walking distance of Stanwell Park beach.
This area is a great place to relax and
watch the hang gliders sail down from
Bald Hill.
C. Austinmer Beach Park,
D. Thirroul Beach Reserve &
E. Bulli Beach Reserve
Overlooking some of Australia’s finest beaches,
these parks are the perfect place for a day out
by the sea. Featuring picnic shelters and modern
playground equipment, these parks adjoin sea
pools and pristine patrolled beaches. Enjoy a
bite to eat at the local cafés, adjacent to the
beach reserves.
F. Towradgi Park Reserve
Towradgi Park reserve offers a
range of recreational activities. The
cycle way borders the modern
playground facility and joins
Towradgi and Corrimal Beaches.
Shelter sheds and BBQ facilities are
located in the eastern area of the
park with a short walk to an ocean
pool. Nearby tennis courts, soccer
fields and bowling club ensure that
Towradgi Park has something for
everyone.

G. Stuart Park
One of the largest outdoor recreation
areas in the city, Stuart Park is central
to the Wollongong CBD, lagoon and
North Wollongong Beach. The park
features a large accessible playground
and expansive grassed surrounds.
Stuart Park has a number of picnic
shelters and BBQ facilities that are
popular on weekends. The scenic
cycleway runs through the park and
around Wollongong harbour. Vehicle
parking is limited on most weekends
so arrive early.
H. City Beach Foreshore
& Lang Park
Relax and enjoy a picnic at Belmore Basin while you watch
the boats arrive into Wollongong Harbour. With grassy banks
and plenty of shade trees, City Beach Foreshore is the ideal
place for a day out. Enjoy the view of the harbour or walk
around the picturesque lighthouse at Flagstaff Hill. The City
Beach cycle way leads down to Lang Park where playground
facilities and undercover picnic huts are located. Lang Park
has a large reserve that is ideal for playing outdoor games.
The Wollongong Entertainment Centre and WIN Stadium are
a short distance from the park.
