Continuing Your Legacy
We greatly appreciate those individuals who
remember De La Salle with a bequest or
other means of deferred giving. You will
not only honor your own memories and experiences,
you will also build a legacy that will help thousands
of students receive the Lasallian education that is a
longstanding tradition of De La Salle Institute.
There are many ways you can give a gift that will
last a lifetime and make a difference for countless
students who hope to follow in your footsteps.
Family members and friends who wish to make a gift
to the Institute in memory of a loved one can now
see their name listed on the memorial plaque that
hangs next to the school’s Signum Fidei Chapel at
the Institute Campus.
The Legacy Circle recognizes alumni and friends
of De La Salle Institute who have provided for the
school in their estate plans.
Additions to Advancement Staff
Kate Rhodes
New vice president of advancement
In July, 2011, De La Salle named
Kate Rhodes its new Vice President
of Advancement.
Rhodes, a graduate of Marquette
University in Milwaukee, WI and Marian
Catholic High School in Chicago Heights,
IL, brings 13 years of experience as a
fundraising professional to the Institute,
having worked in a variety of nonprofit
organizations throughout Chicagoland
including Hazelden Chicago, The
University of Chicago, LatzBruni
Partners, and most recently, Old St.
Patrick’s Church in the West Loop.
At Old St. Patrick’s Church, Rhodes
led a team of professionals (including
communications, special events, member
relations, and database management, as
well as several volunteer fundraising
committees) responsible for advancing
the mission, while also planning and
executing the capital and operating
fundraising strategies and goals.

to ‘D’, Maggie!
In September, 2011, De La Salle
welcomed Maggie McEldowney as
its new Special Events Coordinator.
McEldowney, who is a former intern in De
La Salle’s Advancement Office, is a graduate
of the University of Illinois at Urbana-
Champaign with a degree in Media Studies
and Communications. McEldowney is a
graduate of Marist High School.
“During my internship, I had a wonderful
time getting to know the school, and what
we represent as the De La Salle family,”
McEldowney said. “I’ve been able to
meet a variety of members on our faculty
and staff, and see what a wonderful
conglomeration of people we have not
only teaching our students, but also
the dynamic group of students we have
attending De La Salle.
“As the Special Events Coordinator, I plan
to run successful and entertaining events
while proudly representing De La Salle
Institute. Being a part of the Advancement
office, I hope to assist my colleagues in
promoting fundraising at the school, and
keep in close contact with our alumni.”
