ROYAL AWARDS CEREMONY RECOGNISES MASON’S
CONTRIBUTION TO INTERNATIONAL TRADE
Tim Brooksbank, Past Master of the
Lodge of St.Peter and Harmony No 600,
Past First Principle of The Chapter of
Faith No 1034 and chairman of Baildon
Masonic Hall Company Ltd, on behalf
of his Bradford based company Calibre
UK Ltd, recently accepted a chalice and
certifi cate presented by the Grand Master
HRH The Duke of Kent at an offi cial awards
ceremony at Calibre UK’s Bradford factory.
The award was presented in recognition
of outstanding export performance and
winning a Queen’s Award for Enterprise
2012 in the international trade category.
This award is regarded as the highest
company accolade in business attainable
in the UK and held in very high regard
throughout the world and requires
personal approval of HM The Queen on
recommendation from the Prime Minister.
The packed event was attended by
local dignitaries from the Lord Lieutenant’s
Offi ce as well as the local Council, plus
several international and UK clients
representing Calibre UK in Europe, Asia,
Japan, the Middle East and North America.
HRH The Duke of Kent attended as the
personal representative of HM The Queen
to perform the presentation as well as
undertake a factory tour. The Duke was
then W Bro Brooksbank’s guest of honour
at the luncheon which followed in the
Company’s Bradford offi ces and which
was catered for excellently by the staff
from Hoyle Court.
W Bro Brooksbank said, “To receive this
award is in itself a huge honour but, as an
active Freemason, for HRH The Duke of
Kent, who is of course The Grand Master,
to come to visit our factory to present this
to me is absolutely fantastic, especially as
I understand this is something which he
requested to do.”
The day after the ceremony in Bradford
W Bro Brooksbank and his wife, Pauline,
received an invitation on behalf of HM The
Queen to attend at Buckingham Palace for
a reception being held by Her Majesty in
honour of the winners of this prestigious
award. This proved to be most interesting
to them both, not only to see Her Majesty
and the inside of Buckingham Palace,
but especially as HRH The Duke of
Edinburgh introduced himself personally
and engaged in a most interesting
conversation with Tim and Pauline at that
event. “The Duke of Edinburgh is clearly
a very interesting person and quite a
character,” noted W Bro Brooksbank.
