From 1930 to July 1938 Sybil Andrews shared a studio with British artist<br />

Cyril Power, a fellow member of the Grosvenor School. This <strong>in</strong>formal<br />

work<strong>in</strong>g partnership produced an extraord<strong>in</strong>ary body of work for both<br />

artists and some of the f<strong>in</strong>est pr<strong>in</strong>ts of the 1930s. Flower Girls is one of<br />

these sought~after images produced dur<strong>in</strong>g this time. Stephen Coppel<br />

notes, “The repeated angular shapes and colour patterns give dynamic<br />

energy to this study of movement.”<br />

Early impressions of this pr<strong>in</strong>t are on buff oriental laid paper and late<br />

impressions are on thicker oriental paper. This is a f<strong>in</strong>e impression with<br />

strong colours on thicker oriental paper.<br />
