Department of Student Leadership of the
Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals
The Department of Student Leadership of the Virginia Association of Secondary
School Principals promotes leadership learning in student organizations for all
K-12 schools throughout the Commonwealth. We are committed to the
advancement of leadership training for students and advisers in Virginia.
Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals
The VSCA Advisory Committee of the Virginia Association of Secondary School
Principals provides direction and counsel for the administrative operation of
the VSCA. The advisory committee consists of eighteen (18) voting members:
three (3) high school officer schools (President, Vice President, and Secretary),
nine (9) high school regional representative schools, three (3) middle
level representative schools, and three (3) elementary level representative
schools, all elected annually at the VSCA State Convention by member schools
of the VSCA. Representative positions of the VSCA Advisory Committee are
held by schools rather than individuals. All Representative Schools, once
elected, are represented on the VSCA Advisory Committee by a student representative
and his or her school’s SCA Adviser or principal designee. In addition,
the VSCA Advisory Committee includes ex-officio nonvoting members,
including two (2) VASSP representatives who are appointed by the VASSP Board
of Directors, the VASSP Executive Director and the director of the VASSP
Department of Student Leadership. The VASSP Executive Director may appoint
other ex-officio nonvoting members as necessary.

to express good citizenship, attitudes and
practices, and to promote the
general welfare of the school.
