ACCELERATING THE GROWTH OF EMERGING<br />

FIRMS: THE FAIRFAX COUNTY BIOACCELERATOR<br />

The <strong>Fairfax</strong> <strong>County</strong> BioAccelerator in Springfield welcomed<br />

its third overseas company in <strong>2006</strong> with the addition of<br />

JIRIS USA, a South Korean biometrics firm. Atrium Renewable<br />

Oil also joined the BioAccelerator. Other companies in<br />

the incubator experienced progress in increased sales, jobs<br />

and participation in contracts, grants and biomedical events.<br />

The BioAccelerator provides more than 7,500 square feet of<br />

office space, administrative support, business and financing<br />

advice, and other customized assistance to start-up companies<br />

in the growing field of biotechnology and bioinformatics.<br />
