HOUSEHOLD TIPS TO CONSERVE WATER
OUTSIDE
Irrigation
Check irrigation system for leaks, breaks, etc.
Watering once per week in the winter is usually okay
Direct swamp cooler water drain lines to landscaping
Pool
Use a pool cover to cut down evaporation
Check automatic fillers for proper operation
Evaporative Cooler
Make sure the water flow valve is set properly and works
Turn off feed lines when winterizing the cooling unit
INSIDE
Check all fixtures and toilets for leaks
Don’t let water run while brushing teeth or shaving
Hand wash dishes and do not let water run for rinsing
If using dishwasher, make sure loads are full
Wash clothes in full loads
Catch water in shower or sink while water heats up to use
on plants
