Game Night
January 7th @ 6:00 pm
Come on out for a night of games and fellowship
with your church family, on January 7th at
6:00 pm, in the Bible Class Room. There will
be games for all ages and interests. If you have a
special game that you like to play, please bring it
along. Cards, dominos, board games galore will
be featured. Enjoy special coffees, soft drinks,
and popcorn. Feel free to bring your own dessert
to share for the evening.
This is a great way for your
whole family to come out and
get to know your
church family.
Men Alive Retreat
The Annual Men Alive Retreat will be Friday
evening, February 3rd to Sunday noon, at
Kaiserhof Lutheran Retreat Center in Tomball.
All men ages 18 and above are invited to the
retreat. Great Bible Study, Food and Fellowship.
Cost will be $75.00 for the full retreat and
$35.00 for just Saturday. Contact Ben Schoppe,

Topic for the Retreat is “God, Man, and
Morality.” Come and learn how ethics and
morality should fit into your daily life and a
relevant part of your walk with Christ.
Altar Guild New Year Meeting
Monday, January 16 @ 7pm
All ladies are invited to the Altar Guild meeting, in the
home of Debbie White, 1008 Richelieu. Refreshments
will be served before a brief meeting recapping the
holidays and communion duty. We are always looking
for new communion team members. Please consider
serving in this way. Each team just serves a few times
a year. We are also responsible for church decorations
at Christmas & Easter. The annual Mother-Daughter
banquet is our fund-raiser. After the meeting, Secret
Sisters will be revealed and redrawn for those who
would like to participate. A Secret Sister remembers
you in prayer and special occasions. Pick up an info
sheet in the church office prior to the meeting. If you
can’t attend the meeting, give your filled out form to
Loretta, in the church office, prior to the 16th.
Thanks to all the OSL members/families who helped
decorate the church on the 11th. The turnout was
awesome & really appreciated. Bless you for your
work to enhance our church. Take down is Sunday,
January 8th, for all that can help. It always goes a
lot quicker!

It’s All About the Babies...
By the grace of God, the Mobile Crisis Pregnancy
Center is doing marvelous things. The numbers
for March - December, 2011 are:
• 378 women were served in the center
• 59 women were repeat visits
• 319 women were new to the center
• 130 negative pregnancy tests
• 176 positive pregnancy tests
• 155 women chose LIFE
• 13 visits for information
• 176 ultrasounds done
• 21 babies lost, either...
they said they were still having an abortion or
we knew they had an appointment at Planned
Parenthood or
were not able to contact them after their visit or
refused to take a blanket
87% saved!
We provided 166 blankets and over 28 people have
participated in providing these blankets by: buying
material, hemming material, crocheting edges,
writing notes for each blanket, crocheting whole
blankets, knitting blankets or giving money.
Many people gave me money to buy material at
JoAnn’s for the after Thanksgiving sale, over $400.
We have material for at least 250 blankets and have
some money left to buy yarn. Praise the Lord!
Christine Melchor said that these 155 babies that
were saved was all through the grace of God. HE has
worked miracles thru the ultrasound machine.
Please remember the bus and everything connected
with it in prayer:
• Good health for the Coalition Bus workers
• Holy Spirit be with them as they minister to
these girls
• That the bus stays in good mechanical order
(missed about 4 weeks since March for repairs)

2012 Service Teams
The new Those to Serve schedule is being
developed. If you would like to be added to or
taken off a team please let the church office know
by January 15th. Teams to consider serving your
church are: Carts, Greeters, Sound, Ushers,
Altar Guild & Friday morning bulletin teams.
Usually it just takes a couple hours once a month
of service for most of these teams. Altar Guild,
Carts & Greeters just a few times a year!

Flower Chart 2012
The new flower chart is on the hutch in the
narthex. Commemorate your special occasions
with flowers. Only 2 arrangements are available
each Sunday for $25 each. Note your name and
if you want to keep them with (W), or if you
would rather send them to the sick with (S). You
will get a reminder in the mail.

5th Annual Bus Trip to Austin For LIfe!
Join us on our Charter Bus and attend the 2012
Texas Rally For Life - Saturday, January 28, 2012.
This year’s Rally commemorates the 39th
anniversary of the tragic Roe v. Wade Supreme
Court decision in 1973, which made abortion legal
throughout all nine months of pregnancy. In the
wake of Roe, legal abortion in our nation has
claimed the lives of more than 50 million unborn
children and has hurt countless women and men.
HLFL provides 4,500 Inserts to Local Congregations
As part of our outreach - “Equipping Lutherans to
be Gospel-motivated voices For Life”, once again,
Houston Lutherans For Life is providing Life
Sunday Bulletin Inserts to twelve Houston area
LCMS congregations.
Life Sunday is January 22, 2012. This year it falls on the
39th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, January 22, 1973.
Mission Statement: “Equipping Lutherans to be
Gospel-motivated voices For Life!”
For the 4th straight year the Norman Adams family
has sponsored our Charter bus so bring your whole
family and join us - the total cost is ONLY $10
per adult, which helps cover expenses as well as
snacks and refreshments for the trip. Kids 12 and
under (accompanied by an adult) and ALL students
including College are FREE.
The next General Membership Meeting of HLFL
will be held on the bus. Our Charter Bus will
depart Our Savior Lutheran Church at 8:00 am and
will return by 7:00 p.m (5000 W Tidwell, Houston,
TX 77090). The march begins at 1 p.m. at the NW
corner of 15th St. and Colorado St. and ends at the
Capital Steps with a Rally at 2 p.m. (NOTE: The bus
will drop off all non-walkers right next to the Capital.) For

Serving Families for Jesus Christ
Annual Open House and
Kindergarten Round-Up
Sunday, January 22, 2:00–4:00 PM
Please invite your friends and family, on January 22, to
tour our campus and facilities, meet our dedicated staff,
and learn more about our classical curriculum. Tours
will be given from 2 - 4 p.m. For those interested in our
Kindergarten Program, Lynette Cherington will give
a special presentation beginning at 2:15 p.m. She will
discuss OSL’s Kindergarten Program and Kindergarten
Readiness Testing. Children are welcome. Activities are
planned for prospective Kindergarten students.
2012-2013 SCHOOL YEAR
January 3, 2012, begins priority enrollment for the 2012-
2013 school year. Priority enrollment for current school
families runs through January 31, 2012. Enrollment will
open to the public Wednesday, February 1, 2012.
OSL Annual Spelling Bee
Congratulations to our 2011 Spelling Bee winners, Emily
Reaves, and Runner Up, Collin Mckinzie.
Texans Honor Mr. Eifert
The Houston Texans sponsored a program this year to
honor one outstanding teacher in the Houston area for
each home game. Erica Puryear nominated our very own,
Mr. Eifert, because of the compassion he showed her as a
new student feeling a little out of place and overwhelmed.
Mr. Eifert picked up on the fact that Erica was a huge Texan
fan and started talking to her about the team, players
and games throughout the day. Mr. Eifert put her at ease
and helped her to quickly adjust to life at OSL. On the
Tuesday before the game, Darryl Sharpton, a linebacker
for the Texans, came to OSL and spoke with Mr. Eifert
and his students during an assembly in the gym. That
Sunday, Mr. Eifert was given 4 field passes to the Texans
game where he was given the VIP treatment and featured
on the big screen during the 4th quarter. We are blessed
to have a staff
of wonderful,
caring teachers,
and we are
excited for this
honor to have
been bestowed
on Mr. Eifert.
Chapel Offerings
During the months of December and January, our chapel
offerings will be collected to help The Gabriel Project. The
Gabriel Project helps expectant mothers who are at least
seven months pregnant or mothers who have a child six
months or younger. The Gabriel Project offers limited
financial help, food, and a baby layette to those in crisis.
Cruise for Smiles
In lieu of a gift exchange between students, OSL
participated in “Cruise for Smiles” Toy Drive sponsored by
Harris County Precinct 1, Constable Jack F. Abercia. Our
goal was one toy for every OSL student.
