<strong>Multan</strong> City is fortunately situated on<br />
the left bank of river Chenab and its<br />
acquifers are recharged by the fresh water.<br />
Shujababd Canal is located at west<br />
whereas Nau Bahar distributory is located<br />
at East side of the city, both recharging the<br />
acquifers. Hence fresh water is abundantly<br />
available in the underground with TDS<br />
ranging from 500 to 900 mg/l at a depth of<br />
35 to 45 ft. However shallow water is<br />
contaminated in most of the areas of this<br />
city. About 60% area is covered with piped<br />
water supply system whereas 40% area is<br />
still unserved.
