Dear Parent/ Carer<br />
It is the aim of the school not only to encourage your child in their academic studies, but also<br />
to develop their social skills, physical fitness and also to enable them to experience<br />
environments outside their normal day-to-day lives. We are proposing to organise a school ski<br />
course to Courmayeur, Italy during the Christmas holidays 2011. This trip is open to students<br />
currently in years 7, 8, 9, and 10. Details are as follows:<br />

We have decided to change the time of year that we run the ski trip from the Easter Holidays<br />
to the Christmas Holidays. This has enabled us to reduce the price and include more activity<br />
time.<br />
Costs include:<br />
Return travel from school by executive coach with toilet/washroom and lap seat belts<br />
Continental breakfast on outbound journey and hot breakfast on return journey<br />
Half board hotel accommodation in 2, 3, or 4 bedded rooms all with private facilities –<br />
including full evening meal on day of departure from resort<br />
Hot, snack lunch on arrival and on each ski day at a mountain restaurant<br />
Ski instruction (no snow boarding) – four hours per day for 6 days with an hour’s lunch<br />
supervision with qualified ski school instructors.<br />
6 days hire of top quality carving skis, poles and boots plus helmet hire. It will be<br />
compulsory for all pupils on the trip to wear a safety helmet at all times when ski-ing.<br />
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE WEARING OF SAFETY HELMETS IS NOW<br />
COMPULSORY BY ITALIAN LAW FOR CHILDREN AGED UNDER 14 YEARS.<br />

Not included:<br />
Pocket money<br />
Specialist clothing and ski wear (although the latter can be arranged through Interski’s<br />
sister company, Snowco: www.snowco.co.uk).<br />
The cost of the trip will be £810, which can be spread over a series of payments. Following<br />
the initial deposit of £75, we would require five payments of £125 and a final payment of<br />
£110 made by the following dates:<br />
11 th March £125<br />
8 th April £125<br />
6 th May £125<br />
10 th June £125<br />
8 th July £125<br />
9 th September (£110)<br />
Although the course is an educational experience we will not consider or be able to take any<br />
pupil who fails to demonstrate the correct levels of maturity, behaviour and responsibility in<br />
school. We have to be able to trust all pupils implicitly 2,500 metres up a mountain!<br />
If you wish to participate in this trip, please complete and return the attached reply slip<br />
together with a deposit of £75 by Friday 11 th February 2011. Payments can be made at<br />
www.parentpay.com or by cash or cheque, made payable to “<strong>Isambard</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>School</strong>.”<br />
As the school is continually trying to look at ways in which it can help reduce carbon<br />
footprints, if you are paying with parent pay, you can return your reply slips via a new email<br />
address ensuring that in the subject area you type “Ski <strong>Trip</strong> December 2011 Reply Slip” and<br />
your child’s name. The address is schoolcomms@isambard.swindon.sch.uk.<br />
If the trip is over subscribed names will be drawn randomly, those students who are not<br />
allocated a place will be refunded their deposits, for those students who are allocated a place,<br />

The final payment will need to be paid by the 23 rd September 2011.<br />
A presentation for parent’s/carer’s and students will be organised before the trip to give you<br />
