Attention Seniors! Register now for Bright Futures!<br />

We encourage all Seniors to apply NOW for the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. You must apply prior to<br />

graduation. Apply even if you are “sure” you are going to an out-of-state school; your situation may change.<br />

To apply for Bright Futures:<br />

Go to www.FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org<br />

Select “State Grants, Scholarships & Applications”<br />

Select “Apply Here” (one of the headings)<br />

Select “Initial State Student Application” (located under the Students heading)<br />

The submission of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an annual requirement for Bright Futures<br />

eligibility. The FAFSA does not have to indicate financial need; however, the application must be completed and<br />

processed error-free. You may access the application at www.fafsa.ed.gov. For more information, please consult the<br />

Bright Futures website (www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org/ssfad/bf/), call the Florida Department of Education,<br />

Office of Student Financial Assistance for State Scholarships and Grants at 1-888-827-2004.<br />

Note: ACT, SAT, and PERT test dates through the June test dates will be admissible for Summer Bright Futures<br />

Evaluation.<br />

All students are encouraged to visit www.FLVC.org and register. Students should verify their<br />

name, address, date of birth, and social security numbers are accurate. A wealth of information<br />

is available including the ability to check Bright Futures Scholarship status, see high school<br />

summary and grades, research colleges and scholarships in Florida, learn about higher education<br />

opportunities in Florida, determine career objectives, apply to colleges online, and much more!<br />

Money for College: Access www.legion.org/needealift for more information on The Am. Legion<br />

scholarships and financial aid offered.<br />

The Johnson Scholarship Foundation is offering scholarship aid to attend colleges in Florida to<br />

the children of UPS employees or retirees who live in Florida. Questions should be directed to<br />

Scholarship Management Services at (507) 931-1682. Applications are available to download<br />

from www.jsf.bz. Applications must be mailed as directed on the application. The application<br />

deadline is April 15, 2014.<br />

The James M. Sutton Scholarship & Fort Walton Beach Rotary Designated Scholarship, offered by the Fort Walton Beach<br />

Rotary Club, is awarded to degree-seeking students. Applicants must be Seniors at <strong>Choctawhatchee</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>, Fort<br />

Walton Beach <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>, or Fort Walton Beach residents attending Collegiate <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> at Northwest Florida State<br />

College. The field of study for this scholarship is unrestricted. Applications and additional information are available in<br />

the Guidance office and at www.fortwaltonrotary.org/Scholarship.htm. The application deadline is April 15, 2014.<br />

The John T. Morgan III Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Fort Walton Beach Rotary Club, is awarded annually to a<br />

student who has overcome great adversity in his/her life whether it is due to illness, handicap, or other special need.<br />

The applicant must be a Senior at <strong>Choctawhatchee</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>, Fort Walton Beach <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>, or a Fort Walton Beach<br />

resident attending Collegiate <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> at Northwest Florida State College, and must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on<br />

a 4.0 scale. Applications and additional information are available in the Guidance office and at<br />

www.fortwaltonrotary.org/Scholarship.htm. The application deadline is April 15, 2014.<br />
