Student Insights is once again sponsoring a scholarship contest for high school Seniors. The 2014 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering $10,000 worth of scholarships to high school Seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college, or career school. It’s quick and easy to apply: no minimum SAT/ACT score or grade point average, no essay required, no lengthy application form, and no application fees. Simply log on to www.studentview.com and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area. The scholarships will be awarded via a random drawing of all completed applications. The scholarship winner will be announced in May, 2014. Student Insights is a market research firm helping colleges and universities communicate more effectively with high school Seniors. The scholarship deadline is April 20, 2014. The Legendary Marine Scholarships are awarded to graduating high school students in the Panama City, Destin, Fort Walton Beach, and Gulf Shores markets. These students plan to attend a four-year college, university, or qualified trade schools to further their education. The Legendary Marine Scholarships are designed to recognize outstanding achievers. The Legendary Marine Scholarships are $1,000 each, with a maximum of four provided annually. To be eligible, a nominee must be a graduating Senior attending high school in Bay, Walton, Okaloosa, Mobile, or Baldwin counties; have a minimum 3.5 GPA; and have been actively engaged and a contributor to high school and/or community or church activities or volunteer efforts. Applications and additional information are available in the Guidance office. The application deadline is April 25, 2014. The Troy University Emerald Coast Chapter of Alumni and Friends Scholarship is awarded to one or more students who attend or plan to attend Troy University. Applicants must meet the following criteria for selection: students must be unconditionally admitted to Troy University; have actively participated in school activities and community programs; be able to clearly express education and career goals; attach at least one letter of recommendation; and reside in Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, or Walton County. Awards range from $300 to $1,000. Special awards available include the Rodney Walker Scholarship ($500) and the J.C. Connor Scholarship ($1,000). Applications and additional information are available in the Guidance office. The application deadline is April 25, 2014. The Velma K. Conyers Chapter #7, Order of the Eastern Star, will be offering scholarships to graduating Seniors in Okaloosa County. The annual scholarship, in the amount of $500.00, will be presented in honor of the late Dr. J.R.L. Conyers. Dr. Conyers’ thoughtful dedication toward humanity leaves an indelible stamp on our hearts and molds the very thought and will of our future generations. Our scholarships are awarded to graduating Seniors, males or females, with a 2.5 cumulative GPA or above, demonstrating strong, unselfish community service as one of many all-around characteristics. Applications and additional information are available in the Guidance office. The application deadline is April 26, 2014. The Sue Kruger Future Teacher Scholarship is available to any member of the current Choctawhatchee High School Senior class who is planning to become a teacher in either a private or public school setting, elementary or secondary. Student applicants must be accepted to a college or university and must declare education as a major, the first semester the scholarship is given. The scholarship’s purpose is to encourage students to become educators. This scholarship is not based on the student’s financial need, but rather, the student’s educational goals. Academic information on the scholarship will indicate if a student is qualified to enter a college or university in the fall. Most importantly, the panel will select the applicant(s) who best describe their desire or love of teaching. One scholarship of $500.00 will be given, and will be sent directly to the student’s school and NOT given directly to the student. Once the student has registered for at least one course in the education field, the funds will be sent. The scholarship funds will be used toward tuition, room and board, fees, or books and supplies. The Your Favorite Car Scholarship, worth $500, is open to students who are attending an accredited post-secondary institution by the Fall of 2014 at the latest and are enrolled or are planning to enroll in a program that is at least two years in length. Applications can be found by going to www.torontocardealerships.ca. The application deadline is April 30, 2014. Northwest Florida State College Student Ambassadors serve as the official hosts and hostesses of NWFSC. They are wellspoken, enthusiastic student leaders who represent the college at special events, campus visits and tours, alumni and foundation activities, commencement, and similar recruitment opportunities. The NWFSC Student Ambassador is a position of high esteem and an opportunity for students to have pride and ownership of their higher learning institution while building leadership skills and qualities. To be eligible, candidates must apply for admission to NWFSC as a degreeseeking student, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and prior leadership experience involvement, enroll for at least 6 credit hours per semester, and agree to serve as a RaiderRep Student Ambassador for at least 1 academic year, preferably 2. The Hispanic General Scholarship offers merit-based and need-based scholarships in the amount of $1,000-$3,000, to qualified high school graduating Seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students who demonstrate both significant motivation and aptitude for a career in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. To be eligible, applicants must be a SHPE member; be of Hispanic descent; be accepted into or attending an accredited 2-year or 4- year college or university in the United States or Puerto Rico; be graduating Seniors graduating from an accredited high school in the U.S. with a diploma; have a minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale for high school Seniors; major in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or a related field; and be pursuing your first Bachelors degree. The Law Firm of Ayo and Iken, a Florida law firm helping people with divorce and custody issues, recognizes parents who co-parent their children despite the hardships of a separated household. Parents who successfully prioritize the best interests of their children should be recognized. We would like the children of those parents to be a success in life and recognize the outstanding example of parenting shown by their mothers and fathers. The Law Firm of Ayo and Iken would like to help Florida high school Seniors who have lived in a divided household from which two parents strive to maintain respect for each other as an ongoing concern while caring for their children. Two winners, selected by a committee of child custody attorneys, will each be awarded a $1,000 scholarship to be used toward their first year of college. If your parents are permanently separated or divorced, communicate openly and positively, join together to continue showing you love, and work together in your best interest, we want to hear from you! Applicants must write a 2000-minimum-word essay describing how your parents continue to work together despite being part of a separated household. Your essay must describe in detail how your parents overcame obstacles and remained excellent role models. Pensacola State College awards scholarships based on academic merit, leadership, school and community service, financial need, athletics, and other criteria. Applicants of Pensacola State College’s Academic Merit Scholarships must be U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens; must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on all high school or college/vocational credits, and must plan to enroll on a full-time basis. Recipients must maintain full-time enrollment and a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Applicants of Pensacola State College’s Foundation Scholarships must be a U.S. citizen, resident of Northwest Florida, have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA on all high school or college/vocational credit and may be enrolled in six or more credits, or 225 clock hours.
