Ultra High Build 2K Primer Systems
PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS
DESCRIPTION
VERSAPRIME 2K HB and SUPERBUILD 2K are premium, ultra
high build 2K-primer systems with excellent color holdout and
no shrinkage. They come in three colors: Gray, Buff and
Tintable. In addition, they have fast recoat and sand times,
allowing fast productivity at the shop. These primers are also
compatible with any refinishing system on the market.
APPLICATION / MIX RATIO - 4:1
MIX RATIO - GRAY & BUFF: Mix (4:1) - To four (4) parts
of VERSAPRIME 2K HB or SUPERBUILD 2K, add one (1) part
of VERSAPRIME 2K HB or SUPERBUILD 2K catalyst. You may
add up to 10% Acrylic Urethane or Low VOC Urethane
Reducer to improve flow. To avoid moisture contamination of
the catalyst, use our CATALYST GUARD. Store below 120º F
(49º C). Stir components thoroughly before use.
MIX RATIO - TINTABLE (ONLY): Mix (4:1:1) - To four (4)
parts of VERSAPRIME 2K HB or SUPERBUILD 2K, add one
(1) part of VERSAPRIME 2K HB or SUPERBUILD 2K catalyst,
and one (1) part of TINT-A-PRIME tint.
APPLICATION: Apply two to three medium wet coats
allowing 10 minutes of flash time between coats, until desired
build is achieved. Film build is approximately 2.0 to 2.5 mils
per coat (dry to film build). If spot priming, for best results
apply first coat of VERSAPRIME 2K HB or SUPERBUILD 2K
starting with the outer edge, working yourself towards the
center of the repair. Allow a minimum of one hour dry time
before sanding and top coating. Low temperature and/or high
humidity can affect dry time.
DRY TIMES:
TEMPERATURE 50ºF 70ºF 90ºF 140º for
(10ºC) (20ºC) (32ºC) 30-45 min.
TO SAND/TOP COAT 2 hrs. 60 min. 45 min. 15 min.
ACCELERATED 1.5 hrs. 45 min. 30 min.

SPRAY GUN SETUP:

INSTRUCTIONS
Before sanding, wash all surfaces thoroughly with soap and
water. Rinse well and dry with a clean cloth. Clean the area
with AXIS PRE-CLEAN and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Sand
area as needed with 150-220 grit paper to remove any
corrosion. Aluminum and stainless steel must be sanded with
180-220 grit paper. Wipe all sanded areas with AXIS PRE-
CLEAN and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Apply AXIS EPOX-
PRIME & SEAL, SELF-ETCHING PRIMER 1K or (1:1) WC
PRE-TREATMENT where needed.

After being properly sanded and treated:
• OEM and aftermarket finishes, excluding acrylic lacquer
• Fiberglass, steel, aluminum, galvanized
• Body filler, some plastics
