Greetings to the <strong>Grace</strong> <strong>Lutheran</strong> community,<br />
It is with joy and expectation that I begin my ministry with you. As I move into this new role, I<br />
look forward to getting to know you and exploring the many ministry opportunities <strong>Grace</strong> has to<br />
offer. I am particularly excited by your outreach, mission, worship and discipleship focus.<br />
I come to you from First <strong>Lutheran</strong> <strong>Church</strong> in Blooming Prairie, just on the other side of Interstate<br />
35W. I am married and have three adult children. Currently my husband and I live on a<br />
small rural acreage NE of Blooming Prairie. Being “empty nesters” and looking at new career<br />
opportunities for both my husband and myself; our lives are in transition. We pray and trust that<br />
God will continue to provide for our needs as He always has.<br />
My educational and career background started as a Respiratory Therapist working for the Mayo<br />
Clinic in Rochester, MN. I then took some time off to raise family and work in positions that allowed<br />
me to be closer to home. I have worked as an educational paraprofessional in the Blooming<br />
Prairie Elementary school and in parish education at First <strong>Lutheran</strong>.<br />
My call to ministry has been a lifelong endeavor. I have always been active in the church from a<br />
very young age. It is interesting how the Holy Spirit grabs you, and works His will in you over<br />
time. As I creatively write: “I was called to go beyond wading in the shallows of lukewarm faith. I<br />
was being called to go deeper and farther into the waters of baptismal promise.” (We can talk<br />
more about this later. I’d love to share my story and hear your.) I thus, submitted to the Holy<br />
Spirit’s nudging, and returned to finish a degree in religious education and seminary degree in<br />
ministry and daily life. I have completed the call and candidacy process with the ELCA and am<br />
called to Word and service ministry as a diaconal minister. (I will share more about this through<br />
educational or adult forums.)<br />
Now as I sit in this new space, (<strong>Grace</strong> <strong>Lutheran</strong>) I hear life in the hallways, I see the smiles of<br />
people stopping by to say Hi, I feel welcomed, and I wonder what God has in store for you and I.<br />
Now, I look at a plaque I have on my desk. A gift I received from a dear friend a number of years<br />
ago. On it is the phrase “listening to grace.” That plaque now takes on a fuller meaning for me,<br />
for I hope to listen to you; support, help and serve your needs. I look forward to listening to<br />
<strong>Grace</strong>.<br />

Goats, Pigs, and Sheep<br />
The Lenten supper put on by<br />
Adult/Family Missions raised<br />
$1,025 including some matching<br />
funds. That money went to<br />
purchase 5 goats, 5 pigs and 5<br />
sheep for families in third<br />
world countries. This will help<br />
fifteen families become more<br />
self sufficient by starting a sustainable<br />
barn yard for them.<br />
The animals may provide fertilizer<br />
for their fields to milk<br />
from the goats, wool from the<br />
sheep and many meals from all<br />
of them. To those of you who<br />
put your money in the free will<br />
offering that night, know that<br />
YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE<br />
to the families that receive the<br />
animals.

GWELCA EVENTS FOR JUNE<br />
<strong>June</strong> 6<br />
General Board meets @ 9:15 am<br />
<strong>June</strong> 12 All Circle Potluck Brunch & Bible Study at 9:30 am in the Social Hall. We will eat and then have<br />
Bible study. At this event, we will be giving the kitchen a “dish towel shower”. All women of the church are<br />
welcome to attend. If you cannot attend the Bible Study, you may still participate in the shower. There will<br />
be a basket in the gathering area in <strong>June</strong> for anyone who wants to contribute dish towels.<br />
Wed. <strong>June</strong> 16th at 7:00 pm GWELCA Guest Night!! The program will feature ventriloquist<br />
Sharri Ellingson. All women of the church are invited.<br />
Get Into 3rd Gear Wednesday Nights:<br />
On Wednesday evenings during <strong>June</strong>, 3rd Gear will meet at 7:00 pm (the locations are to be announced)<br />
with the exception of <strong>June</strong> 23rd when many of our members will be going on the 1st of our two Boston<br />
Trips.<br />

A Call Committee has been appointed by the <strong>Church</strong> Council and has begun the process of completing a<br />
profile of our congregation for the synod in order to help them understand our identity, our ministry, and<br />
our mission. This will enable them to narrow the candidates for Associate Minister that will best suit our<br />
congregation.<br />
A Forum will be held on <strong>June</strong> 6th from 9:15-10:15 am in the Social Hall to help address questions and concerns<br />
of the congregation. There will be other Forum’s scheduled to enable those who cannot make the<br />
first one to attend another. It is important to the Call Committee and the <strong>Church</strong> Council to hear your<br />
opinions on this important matter.<br />
The members of the Call Committee are chosen to represent the diversity of the church and are willing to<br />
work for the best interests of the whole congregation. Feel free to contact any member of the Call Committee<br />
with questions or suggestions.<br />

St. John has registered for a Sportslife Camp Evening Session<br />
(5:30-8:30 pm) from Monday, <strong>June</strong> 14 to Thursday, <strong>June</strong> 17.<br />
The week will consist of four days of Biblical curriculum<br />
including sports, arts and programs and is open to all kids<br />
between grades 1-5 for the next school year. The Sportslife<br />
Camp will be held at St. John.<br />
Cost will be only $10 per child with a $35 family cap limit.<br />

Summer Services<br />
This year summer services will be held Thursday nights at 6:30<br />
pm and Sunday mornings at 9:00 am. The Thursday evening<br />
worship services will be held the Social Hall. The Thursday<br />
evening services will be a “come as you are” service. We will be<br />
serving coffee, lemonade and cookies and will offer a very casual<br />
worship experience. We pray that you will be blessed by these<br />
opportunities to join in fellowship with other Christians, building<br />
one another up and sharing time in the Word, music and the<br />
Lord’s supper. The first Sunday service<br />
at 9:00 am will be <strong>June</strong> 13th and the first<br />
Thursday service will be at 6:30 pm on<br />
