Long Field Academy
Academy Conversion
September 2012 marks a significant moment in the history of Long Field with
the school converting to an Academy. This conversion marks the start of a new
exciting era for Long Field students, staff, governors and parents. Our core
purpose as Long Field Academy is to deliver a personalised curriculum for each
and every student, to ensure they are fully challenged, in a supportive and
welcoming environment, in order to fulfil their potential.
A Cognitive Academy
Long Field is a ‘Cognitive Academy’ with students rating their weekly Cognitive
Learning lessons as some that they enjoy most. All students discover how they
learn best and have increasing opportunities as they develop throughout their
school lives to put that knowledge into practise.

Academic Success
This summer we received our second set of GSCE results and saw a 10% increase from
last year, with 86% of students gaining five good A*-C grades. We pride ourselves on
the academic progress our students make but ensure that this is achieved with the
highest standard of personal pastoral care and guidance.
Developing Leaders
Developing the leaders of tomorrow is at the heart of what we do, and student
leadership is particularly high profile at Long Field. Student Ambassadors and
Advocates are appointed in Year 11 to act as representatives of the student body.
These pivotal positions ensure that the views, opinions and visions of our students
play a significant role in how the Academy develops in the future, along with the
active Student Council. Sports Leaders, Digital Leaders and Eco-Rangers are other
groups of students who hold responsibility and share their talents and abilities with
students, staff and the wider community.
