Crowe Horwath announces new Principals and Associate
Principals
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – 1 July 2011. Crowe Horwath has announced the appointment of 12 new
Principals and Associate Principals with a mix of internal promotions and external hires nationally. The
appointments bolster the capabilities of the firm in servicing the demands of clients in the competitive small
to medium enterprise (SME) sector.
The senior appointments are part of a larger growth strategy to provide leading specialist SME services
across audit and assurance, taxation, business services and corporate finance.
Mr Darren O’Brien, Chief Executive Officer of Crowe Horwath’s Sydney office said the rebranding exercise
at the start of the year has increased the awareness of the firm for potential employees and clients.
Internally, employees have a clear understanding of the company’s growth strategy nationwide and the
implications for their personal development in the firm.
“We have seen increased interest over the last six months, especially from potential employees from the
big four accounting firms who have or are interested in specialising in the SME space. We expect those in
the market seeking leading SME experience will continue to look to Crowe Horwath as an employer of
choice,” he said.
Of the four Principals hired externally, three have come from a ‘big four’ accounting firm.
“We look forward to the contributions of all employees at Crowe Horwath as we continue to bolster and add
to the services we provide our clients in different industry segments,” Mr O’Brien said.
An example of this is the hire of Mr Mark Calvetti who will join as Principal in the corporate finance team
with specific expertise in the retail, health and beauty and food and beverages industries. Mr Calvetti will
also be assisted by the appointment of Bill Jansen who has over 40 years’ experience including 26 years
as a partner at Ernst & Young advising in middle market corporates.
“Although attracting new specialists to the firm is important, we are also conscious of the need to
continually develop current staff and find the right balance between external recruits and promoting
internally,” he said.
“We are excited about the growth prospects for Crowe Horwath and look forward to expanding our practice
and servicing our clients in all facets of their business,” Mr O’Brien concluded.
