Mentorship Programme Breaks<br />

Invisible Barrier Again<br />

New bonds were <strong>for</strong>ged in February with <strong>the</strong> first meeting between SHTM mentors<br />

and <strong>the</strong>ir student mentees at PolyU’s Four Seas Chinese Restaurant. Of <strong>the</strong> 80<br />

mentors recruited from <strong>the</strong> hospitality and tourism industry, 46 were in attendance<br />

along with 72 eager students. In <strong>the</strong> coming months all mentors and mentees will<br />

maintain regular contact to achieve <strong>the</strong> learning objectives <strong>the</strong>y agree on.<br />

Now in its eighth year, <strong>the</strong> SHTM Mentorship Programme has attracted and nurtured<br />

almost 900 students. Most have commented that <strong>the</strong>ir mentors have given <strong>the</strong>m very<br />

useful advice and guidance <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir future careers. Some have even remarked that<br />

<strong>the</strong> programme breaks <strong>the</strong> invisible barrier between students and established industry<br />

leaders.<br />

The <strong>School</strong> would like to extend its sincere thanks to <strong>the</strong> following mentors <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
