1. We operate on a six-day schedule; A through F day.<br />

2. Each day students have five (5) core subjects and two (2) special area subjects. All students are assigned<br />

their Core classes within their team and their special area classes across the grade level<br />

3. All sixth graders will eat lunch at 10:50 AM, 7th grade eats at 11:35 AM, and 8th grade eats at 12:20 PM.<br />

Sixth and 7th eat by Team with the 8th graders having a privilege to eat on either side of the cafeteria after a<br />

few weeks. All students can establish a lunch account.<br />

4. From 1:35 - 2:15 pm each day we have Basic Instruction.<br />

Monday - Clubs such as; student council, jazz band, orchestra, show biz dancers, TV<br />

studio, yearbook, art, math help, school spirit, etc. Students not involved in a club are assigned to<br />

intramurals.<br />

Tuesday - team study halls, peer tutoring, 7th/8th grade chorus, 6th grade band, special<br />

area make-up, extra help<br />

Wednesday - team study halls, peer tutoring, 6th grade chorus, 7th/8th grade band,<br />

special area make-up, extra help<br />

Thursday - team study halls, peer tutoring, special chorus, orchestra, special<br />

area make-up, extra help<br />

Friday - Prime Time Activities<br />

5. Every morning students begin their day in their Prime Time. This is a small group of 12 to 15 students with<br />

one teacher. At the end of each day all students report back to their Prime Time for dismissal.<br />

6. Instrumental lessons are scheduled as a pull out which rotates through the day. All group lessons in both<br />

band and chorus are during Basic Instruction periods.<br />

7. AT students in 6 th /7 th grade are assigned to an AT Literacy class 4/6 days and an AT class 2/6 days. Eighth<br />

graders will attend AT classes 4/6 days per cycle, in place of special area classes, for three marking periods.<br />

Some students will also attend the AT classroom during Basic Instruction.<br />

8. We will have three teams at 6th grade, three teams at 7th grade and two teams at 8th grade.<br />

Students are placed on the 6 th grade teams based upon the Friends Request form that is turned in to the middle<br />

school.

9. Teams have the option to modify their schedules at any time as long as they notify the office.<br />

10. Learning support students are assigned support classes based upon the recommendations found within their<br />

IEP.<br />

11. There is an English Core and Extended Core class in the sixth grade, Honors social studies in seventh<br />

grade, and in 8th grade an honors science component for all interested students to complete.(this is all subject to<br />

change beginning in 2012-13)<br />

12. In 2012-13 there will be a Core and Extended Core English class in 7 th as well as Honors English class in<br />

8 th grade.<br />

13. We use common assessments in each of the 5 core subject areas of English, social studies, math, science<br />

and Literacy/geography to guarantee curriculum taught across the teams.<br />

13. Math placement will be determined by testing and/or recommendations from your child’s previous school.<br />

14. First Day Schedule - What to expect?<br />

- extended prime Time, team meeting, grade level meeting, all school meeting<br />

- bus departure by Prime Time with teacher<br />

8:35 - 9:20 AM - Period 2 - Special Area class<br />

9:20 - 10:05 AM - Period 3 - Core class<br />

10:05 - 10:50 AM - Period 4 - Core class<br />

10:50 - 11:20 AM - Period 5/6 - Lunch<br />

11:20 - 12:05 PM - Period 7/8/9 - Core class<br />

12:05 - 12:50 PM - Period 10/11/12 - Core class<br />

12:50 - 1:35 PM - Period 13 - Core class<br />

1:35 - 2:15 PM - Basic Instruction<br />

2:15 PM - Back to Prime Time for dismissal<br />
