• Ta<strong>in</strong>an, the ancient capital of Taiwan, is<br />
situated on the southwestern coastal<br />
pla<strong>in</strong>s of the island.<br />
• Ta<strong>in</strong>an is the oldest and now the<br />
fifth largest city of Taiwan, with a<br />
population over 1,870,000.<br />
• Ta<strong>in</strong>an faces the Taiwan Strait <strong>in</strong><br />
the west and south, and enjoys a<br />
warm climate year-round.<br />
• Ta<strong>in</strong>an's complex history of<br />
comebacks, redef<strong>in</strong>itions and<br />
renewals <strong>in</strong>spired its popular<br />
nickname “the Phoenix City”.<br />

• National Cheng Kung University is a national university <strong>in</strong><br />
Ta<strong>in</strong>an city, Taiwan. It was established under Japanese<br />
occupation <strong>in</strong> January 1931 as Ta<strong>in</strong>an Technical College.<br />
• NCKU is one of the most prestigious universities <strong>in</strong> Taiwan,<br />
with a high reputation <strong>in</strong> science, eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g, medic<strong>in</strong>e,<br />
management, plann<strong>in</strong>g and design. Many surveys throughout<br />
the years have shown that its students are most desired by<br />
Taiwanese companies.<br />
